I do not know what mysteriously happened but some white kind of film has appeared around the outer plastic part of my jog wheels. I think it may be some of the left over glue / residue that was there from these DJTT jog grips after I removed them last week.
Whatever the case, I have tried nail polish remover, then soap, micro crystals and , it is still there.
Anything that may work on getting the plastic looking new again.. or are these permanently damaged? I am really pissed.
Yes, it was under the plate. I used nail polish remover. The metal plates were even kind of stuck to the plastic. I think the np remover made its way under the plate and ate into the plastic or it coul be calcium build up.
I think thats what it is, you should have taken off the jog plates when doing that, or even better have used something that wouldnt eat into the plastic if you left it on there. Sorry to hear about your plates, but i dont think anything is going to fix that now.
is it still visible with the plates on? either way, i guess it really doesn’t detract from the physical operation of them does it? that would be my main concern. at least you didn’t royally screw them
maybe some of that headlight polish/compound after some light wet sanding with high grit sandpaper. i’m just thinking it might work on your jogs like it does on a car’s clear plastic headlights.
Is it more of a haze, or does the plastic feel completely different there than on the clear sections? It looks like the nail polish remover not only ate away at the plastic, but caused a chemical reaction with it. If that’s the case, then polishing it may not work.
If it’s just hazy, then Asterik’s suggestion of automobile polish may work. Try Meguiar’s PlastX; works wonders on plastic headlights.
well I had sanded them down and now they have a cool`“frosted” look ..same color as the buttons. All works the same..
In the dark, it looks really cool though as the blue & red glows through the frost…
damn those look nice, actually they diffuse the light more evenly with the frosting because it is like having a diffraction grating that is very small and random underneath em. I think they look better that way and am tempted to steal the idea and do mine that way.
