Name for artists using midi interfaces in a non “turntablism style way"

Ok a while ago there was a competition on naming the next generations of djs on this post here :
Deckadance give away(comp closed)

My question to all you out there is who is using these terms ?

I like the sound of a digitalist, personally. But if anyone wants to be called a bitjockey just keep in mind that they are a professional BJ, much like Disc Jockey is DJ, if you catch my drift.

I really don’t think I want to be BJ DvlsAdvct… just won’t end well.

Ermmm… how about “DJ” - ?

Yeah whats wrong with DJ (Digital Jockey) ?

or

HDJ (hard drive jocky)

lol

controllerist - some one that performs controllerism?

I still prefer the term controllerism, but digitalist sounds good as well.

As there are discs inside my hard drive, Disc Jockey is still fine for me.

/Calle

who cares.

no, jk.

no, really.

(Digital) DJ.

BJ somehow pushes me in the pr0n direction.

controllerist!

I would say keep coming up with ideas and mine will suck but here it goes.
Tech jockey

DIGItalist !!! faaaa shoooooww !!!

Digital Audio Jockey, DAJ.

I think digitalism and controllerism are not specific to DJ’ing enough (sorry Ean). Controllerism is one part to the complete art of being a DAJ but as we all know there is a lot more to it than just midi mapping one device. Plus I think the term should refer to the individual ie the person performing the act rather than the act itself.

Actually, if ya drop the ‘Audio’ we can just still refer to ourselves as DJs. ‘Digital Jockeys’

I’m a DJ (who uses a VCI-100 with Traktor [with the BPM display disabled]).

EDIT: I wouldn’t call us Digital anything, because then we’d have to be included with people using CDJs :stuck_out_tongue:
