How come when talking to the younger generation about music when i bring up the genre of electro house or the older type of rave music they instantly they tell me electro house sucks?
When electro house has been around way longer then dubstep.
I know people have there preference but thats just pisses me off.
I dont bash dubstep but when ever you bring up old school techno or minimal techno they say its “GAY” or that shit sucks brah go jam out to skrillex.
maybe cause kids today that a electro house song is cool and its just a rip off the OG techno, hardcore, drum & bass track and gives no credit to the OG source. But that goes for any music genre. I had one kid tell me if I had Joy Division cover to The Killers - Shawdowplay. He swore the Killers made the track. I nearly flipped out, but I told him it was the other way around and just said yeah right. Many different scenerios, but I think its a lack of musical knownledge, thats all.
I can’t think of anything I would call electro house in the 90s. French house/ neu disco picked up in the late 90s, electroclash in the early 2000s, and electro house evolved from there but I can’t really think of anything that is clearly electro house until about 2002.
Really? I think the first time I heard the term was like 2003-4. There’s probably older stuff with that sort of sound, particularly bass heavy dub, but it’s still a pretty far cry from what I would consider dubstep today. Do we have examples of 1998 dubstep?

90s rave and electro house (not real Aux88, Model 500 electro) have very little in common.
Sorry guys, but all this conversation seems to me you are just trying to crucify someone because of their comment, which is not any different of the fact someone get pissed because some kid don’t know what they a talking about, but that’s what kids do. I am sure you weren’t that “savvy” when you were younger.
My point is, people should stop to try naming everything. For me there are just two types of music, good music and bad music, because even among the genres I like the most I found some great tune and others that are just shit.
