It seems a little too strange to imagine they’d release new iPods every year, and release a new iPhone every year for them to suddenly skip a year with the iPhone letting the competition get ahead.
I think it’s purely that Apple has managed, for the time being at least, to get the rumour mills more confused than they’ve been for a while.
My guess is that at the least there will be a 3G->3GS style update this year.
That has not even been confirmed to still be happening. I wouldn’t hold my breath for a white iPhone4 unless you buy the mod kit.

According to that it will launch in Fall of next year, not this one. So that’s fine. I can buy it now and then upgrade later.

I was thinking of renewing my contract and buying the iphone 4 but when we (us people who actually fucking look and read and dig and try to find out about new releases) find out about the iPhone 5 before the general population does and sell it on Craigslist then, then take that cash and pick up the 5 then.

I follow the apple rumor sites like appleinsider and bgr. they are pretty spot on on when the next apple gear is coming out. chances are that we should see the new iphone by fall 2011/early 2012. I just bought a used iphone 3gs cuz my 3g stopped working right. I didnt want to renue my contract for a iphone that is passed 1/2 its cycle.
Trust me man, I believe you! You told me what to do with the MacBook Pro’s as well at the DJTT meet up and I listened to your suggestion and am truly happy that I did! I will follow your suggestion, but doing what I suggested above, wouldn’t that be doing the same exact thing as you suggested? Instead of buying it with a contract now, I buy the next one without a contract and sell my current iPhone for the same price that I would either way.
