{OT ish} Is it a dumb idea that

We could all donate 5$ or 10$ to DJTT to help get the funding it needs?

Id be down anyone else?

I’d be down. But thinking about investing anyway. hmmm

yeh why not

Totally acceptable idea. $5 is approx £3!! You cant buy a pint for less than that!!!

Yeah…i suppose charging a fee outright will scare users off…or newer users…but the older ones who have benefitted GREATLY from here should have no issue coughing up a couple bob…

fantastic idea

ye, ill probaly buy more stuff soon anyway so, some more on top of that dont rly matter

With the profit margins on midifighters and other gear i wonder where all the financing has gone :open_mouth:??

I wouldn’t at all. They should be capable of sustaining the website with the shop and ad revenue the same way every other blog does.

If they can’t support their completely unrelated midi controller venture that sucks but it’s nothing to do with me.

I don’t think they’re out of money just they want to be able to attract a decent CEO/COO with a salary and maybe kick start some other ideas. And there’s never been any outside financing for DJTT it’s all been run out of Ean’s pocket and profit from the store. There’s not even outside advertising on the blog.

I’d be cool with targeted advertising. I don’t run adblock on this site.

Honestly I like relevant adverts and it’d be pretty easy to get relevant ads since we know exactly what the people here are interested in.

Yeah same let pioneer stick adverts up on the site and native instruments… Pretty much advertise anything for the music industry, if we have to pay… People will start to leave… Its not that im a tight prick its just I dont like dealing with my money being online… Even sticking a couple dollars tax on products… 5 dollar tax or something… Why not get a loan, people wont enjoy the thought of paying to employ someone else when theres soo much recession…

gtfo!!

He meant a one off donation, or how I read it… I’m cool with that

Friendly.

What’s the point in even bringing up the idea if people are unwilling to be an adult and listen to both sides of the argument?

Would still involve setting up paypal or summit

you don’t have a PayPal? how do you ebay

it should be upto each individual, no one is right or wrong, if you feel like you can spare the cash then thats great if you cant then thats also fair enough too. I left a car forum as it started off just like here, free and a great place to come and learn and make friends then they decided to start charging £15 per year for full membership so if you wanted to see the for sale section or wanted to sell something then you had to pay, they lost so many members including myself when that happened. I have bought stuff from the djtt shop so i feel i have supported them in that way as have so many others on here.. just my opinion…

My dad had an account when we lived in england but ebay in ireland is shit.. We have a site called adverts.ie which is a lot better, you usually meet up and pay in cash, its the local means here in ireland and think its pretty functionable.. Have sold quite a lot on it, and doesnt cost anything to post an ad

i don’t think anyone was suggesting a membership charge, just a one off donation.
