OT: What’s funny about the “Rick Roll”

A number of threads have recently mentioned or used the rick roll?

I never got it. Is that song so terrible? He has pretty amazing voice, I remember when that song first came out and being surprised that a voice like that came out of his mouth.
I know it’s an “internet” thing. But it is SOOOO over (just like “fail”)

Generally it’s annoying and immature. I’m sure some 16 year olds are going to load this thread up with “rick rolls”, but whatever. I guess it’s better then the “I just got an S4!!!” threads.

its the idea that your tempting someone to see what they want, then when they look at it, its something else

rick’s video was just the one used for it.

then everyone started using that song

I have to admit that until yesterday I’d never even heard of a ‘Rick Roll’, and like ‘face melting’ and ‘epic’ et al its says - NOTHING. He did have a voice, but as with all SW&A, and the likes of Milli Vanilli, Sigue Sigue Sputnick, Wham, FGTH, NKoTB, etc etc etc etc etc - he was packaged, prepped and PR’d for mass consumerism. I wonder who’s laughing all the way to the bank today - Rick or the (record company) execs? HE was rolled.

Pointless Fact:

He was born about 20 miles away from me.
In fact when you drive to Manchester on the Motorway you can see his parents house.

SErisly That Rick Roll songs not that bad, The guy has an awsome voice.

Cant say the same for hte new tracks its pretty annoying. but his old stuff had some funk to it.

Iv so been temped a number of times to do a house remix of that song.

Yeah…idk…I never got it either. I always kinda liked that song. It’s one of my guilty pleasures like harry potter movies/books, and dumb computer games like Uplink.
