Playing 140 Jungle Style in the Club Discuss...(Future Jungle, Jungle Tekno)

I am loving the tracks you guys are posting! BPM is just a number to me and I love to slow a good DnB down to 140 or 145.

The label that I get alot of tracks from, had been calling their stuff “140 Jungle” or “Future Jungle”. Is it just sped up breaks..? or slowed down DnB…? or something different. haha

Sometimes i feel that the crowd is not ready for the DnB Vibe, as we know its totally unique. and a track at 140 would be better suited to their dancing. But hell i go all over the place…

TopDrawerDigital put together a compilation of their top 50 tracks which are Excellent!

I apologize for my outburst. I shouldn’t have cussed you out.

b1shop its all good, where you at in Chi? I played up there for a bit

I played 140-150 future jungle out at a gig the other week. Had a lot of good feedback on it - it’s something I toy around with and pick up here and there (as I’m mainly a breaks DJ - and on Beatport a ton of that stuff is listed under breaks so I’m just exposed to it).

This was my tracklisting from the other week (some ravebreaks in there too):

E-Lab Rat - Rat Hustle (Lucas Remix)
Simon Holmes - Break It Down (Original Mix)

I’m sorry, I’m not into future jungle. First genre at 140 I’ve heard that I don’t like tbh.

Anyway, I’d like to hijack this thread to see if anyone is into UK Bass with jungle influences:

pls post fav tunes

I found this sub-genre around 2011. Since then I’ve released a few FJ/140 tracks on labels both in the states and the UK. To the OP, if you dig TopDrawerDigital I recommend you check out Boomsha Recs, SubSlayers, Warehouse Wax, and Digital Acetate (They closed shop last year but their back catalog is super vibey). Big Ups for pushing this sound! I’m originally from Atlanta and hearing your report of the crowd response to Jungle really makes me happy. Peep my tunes from 2012/13 if your interested in my 140 stuff. Otter Music & Downloads on Beatport

Here’s a few of my all time favs.

I think your correct in not calling Aquasky’s 140 stuff Jungle but check out this Congo Natty tune from last year. Its Jungle at 140BPM, no way in hell id call it breakbeat cause its straight up ragga jungle from one of the founding fathers of Jungle - Rebel MC.

I don’t really understand the hatred for 140 Jungle.. I think it has something to do with the “Future Jungle” term that originated by DJ Fresh when he started calling his 140 stuff Future Jungle…

Hey Otter, hope you’re good?

Otter knows his way around FJ - Boomsha, Kutoff, Digital Acetate releases.

General comment: At risk of banging on and admit to having bias, but definitely check out www.planet-rave.com (replaced www.nu-rave.com). Loads of shows featuring Future Jungle/Hardcore Breaks/Ghetto Funk etc. Esp label owner Daz Breakz’s Boomsha FJ show Friday night - is definitive IMHO.

For the record, I don’t hate 140 jungle or Aquasky.

I do hate DJ Fresh though. How you go from Bad Company to the garbage he produces now is beyond me. Oh, and the Bad Company digital remasters are flat out terrible and sound they were mastered by someone with severe hearing damage. :rage:

hehe the sound of the underground!! I am glad that mixing and mastering has becoming more common and cheaper for producers to do themselves.

Now at least underground artists can afford to make their stuff sound decent!

TREMENDOUSLY GOOD!!!

Good choice, nice chap is Kenny  Another planet-rave resident!

would you happen to know his full name? i wanna get in touch wit him

HAHAH totally agree. Fresh’s new sound is wack.

I’ll PM you mate, just spotted you liked Boomsha, looks like we have a good few mutual friends too
