NOBODY?!
c’mon guys.

Perhaps try the production sub-forum?

What’s your budget? If you’re considering Waves and UAD, it’s probably substantial.

In your situation (and assuming you’re going to stick with Ableton), I’d be seriously tempted to use UAD just because of the DSP box. Some of the vintage modeling stuff uses resources very quickly. Their selection is a bit smaller and there’s the initial cost of the DSP…but it might work out.

They both have a solid enough reputation that it’s probably a matter of preference. Waves is probably more popular on the pro world because they have TDM versions to run on HD DSP chips instead of requiring their own DSP. I don’t know if that matters to you at all.

So…using Ableton, the question is whether you want a bigger selection or a DSP card, as I see it.

I’ve used some of the Waves stuff and enjoyed it but never UAD. Well…not software.

UAD definitely, though either way there’s a lot better sounding options for cheaper than Waves. Check out some of the stuff from DMGAudio.com, or Fabfilter. Most have free demos so you can try for yourself.

He’s had more experience than I have, and he’s actually paid for his stuff instead of just using it haphazardly.
