Your go to plugins/vsts?

Your go to plugins/vsts?

Hey guys, just curious to see the type of answers I can get here… I’m always looking for that new VST to try out so maybe this can help me find something new ^^

What are your 5 must have plugins? I’ll start with mine…

  1. Sylenth1… I make basically ALL of my sounds on Sylenth… Love this synth.
  2. Kickstart… Drag and drop for instant sidechain compression
  3. Valhalla Room… My personal favorite reverb plugin at the moment, really really worth the $50
  4. Fabfilter Pro MB… A good multiband compressor, I love the simplicity.
  5. A.N.A… Another synth that I am very fond off. I make some killer basslines with this sucker.

I’m looking forward to some responses

my go to is the 3xOsc
its in FL studio and you literally can re-create ANY sound you hear with it.
Everything from a kick to a bell and even wobble Dubstep bass sounds.
Layer it with other plugins and you can get MASSIVE sounds or even subtle instruments like strings, pianos, horns, you name it.

You are basically creating a SOUND WAV with it and by that i mean the actual WAV pattern of the sound, and alter it.

The ones you listed above seem to be really a one shot deal.
Baiscally made as the “do-all” vst

correct me if im wrong on that one please.
i did have the sylenth for a bit but removed it.

Synthone, Synapse Junglist, Massive, Modern Fx Series, widebug, and cm-909

  • Equilibrium
  • FF Pro-L
  • Voxengo MSED
  • Omnisphere (maybe, slowly gettng burned out on this one)

Maschine, Reaktor, and all of Expert Sleepers’ Silent Way plugins!

  1. NI Massive - I have almost no knowledge of sound engineering, and its relatively beginner friendly (compared to Ableton’s operator, FM8, etc)

  2. LFOTool - As far as I can tell, its more versatile than Kickstart, but its just as easy to use.

  3. 4Front R-Piano - Not much you can do with it…but i like the sound xD

  4. The Pilgrim - HP/LP filter that I use this on every effects chain intended for playing live

  5. MeldaProduction’s MEqualizer - Nice alternative to Ableton’s EQ 8, combines a spectrum analyzer and EQ

Thanks for the responses, guys! I’ll be checking a lot of these out later when I get home :sunglasses:

Anyone else?

Here’s some of my go to’s, basically these are the ones that I count on;

Nepheton
Kramer Master Tape
Lush 101
Maschine
Decimort

I’d say I’d love to check some of these out, but with my recent conversion to Live Suite and purchase of Komplete, I think I have more than enough to tinker with and try to learn before adding to the stable.

But at some point, I may look into some of these - especially the FX stuff.

Basslines - Minimonsta

Pads and the likes - Sylenth

Reverb - RVerb by Waves

Drum Processing - Maserati Drum plugin by Waves

EQ - bx_hybrid by Brainworx

Compressors - Maserati Plugin suite by Waves

Omnisphere
Sylenth
Zebra
Massive
Maschine

Softtubes Amp room - simple great sounding amp sim
Fab filter Timeless - tape delay.
Uhe ACE - semi modular synth.
Uhe uhbiks - my go to fx suite.
Maschine - even though I have an mpc that I use daily it’s just so much better at sampling.

Nice, I see you’re from Chicago as well :sunglasses:

I’m a Logic guy so some of these are Logic specific

Maschine - for drum samples
Ultrabeat - for drum synthesis (using maschine pads to control it)
API 2500 - great bus compressor especially on a drum bus. I almost always have one of these on something
VC 2A - my go to compressor for vocals, pads, synths, non drum compression
Ozone - go to “shmastering” plug but also used on buses
Logic Channel EQ - I also use pultec and api eqs but I’ll have this on pretty much every channeel
Logic Space Designer - Convolution Reverb but I really like the plate and springs more than the realistic spaces.
I try to mainly use hardware synths but I’ll fall back on Massive and Reaktor

Don’t mean to get this discussion off topic, but are you using Logic 9 or X, Nick? I’m curious because I’ve been searching for information regarding how to map a pad controller to Ultrabeat in Logic 9 but haven’t been able to find a clear answer as to whether it’s possible/ways to do it.

I’m a Logic X user.
If Sylenth1 was compatible, that would be my go to synth.

Synths:
A.N.A
Massive
Omnisphere

For drums I usually create my own samples:
Microtonic
Punch
Ultrabeat

Effects Plugins:
izotope ozone 5 advanced (mainly for mastering)
Waves bundles
and some of logics stuff for simple stuff like EQing and compressing.

Logic X and I pretty much just use what’s there, meaning each hit is already mapped to a note so I just put maschine into midi mode, find the right group to get the note range right and play. If I really want a note to be a different pad on the controller, I just move the voice up or down until it’s in the right place. I’m not aware of any “midi learn” type functionality like battery has. Of course Ultrabeat is a monster plugin so there might be some way I dont know about.

A.N.A.. Good choice

Any ideas on vsts for vocal pitching???

I would also be interested in a vst that does this effectively…
