Not sure if I’m right in saying this (as I’ve never gone silly long) but I think it simply depends on your hard drive.
You can choose to split the recording at segments from 650mb up to 2gb. When it gets to that file size, it simply stops and starts a new recording for the next segment. Therefore, I believe (and may be wrong) it simply keep rolling until your hard drive is full.
Yes - and the 2GB limit is down to the .wav format I believe
Last time I was playing it stop at like 49 mins, I usually like to do about 1hr 20min set at home, Is there a way to let keep recording in till you stop it?
Does traktor pro 2 now allow you to record in mp3 192kps for example is is still that ridiculous wav only recording?
WAV - why ‘riduculous’?
Wav only - just use audacity to convert it, it’s free and dead easy.
+1 for JB’s comments.
Change it to 2gb and it’ll keep going, just that you then need to slice wav yourself if you wanna put them on CDs (hence why you get the 650mb option).
WHy is .wav only option ridiculous? It’s one of, and some would argue “the” best audio format. Personally I’d rather get it in best format possible and then re-encode down if I wanted to. Much better than settin it at mp3 192kbps to save space, only to find you did a killer mix and it’s in pap quality and nothing you can do about it!
Only thing I can think of is that either your hard drive is full, or the file was split into two chunks as described, and you only found one of them.
Amen, breadbin …
WAV is not ridiculous
Simples
No tags or compression though, bit of a bummer there.
Its just I upload most of stuff to soundcloud etc. and dont have very high broadband, its just extra work and time to convert, but its not a deal breaker, just would be handy. I mean ridiculous as in file size in MB, obviously very good sound, but its not necessary most of the time, for me anyway.
Right on LP!
Re-encode a mp3 copy of it using any free encoder and there you go. A super high quality wav version and a lower quality mp3 version for any use you want. See the wav as the master, crystal clean and undisturbed version and make mp3 copies of that wav in whatever level from 8-320kbps you want dependent on what reason/file size the mp3 is needed for.
Don’t understand why this is a bad thing? ![]()
“Lose on the swings - gain on the roundabout”. I hear you on size, but the quality is great. Playing a recording I made with the onboard facility on the S4, and imported into iTunes with Apple Lossless format on my iPod with Monster Turbines. The quality is ASTOUNDING
And how.
Don’t get me wrong I do love wav (though prefer flac) but it would be nice to be able to have a choice between the two. I personally would never use it (since I mix externally, don’t use traktor and want lossless recordings) but some people would find it handy.
More options is ALWAYS better.
People who want .MP3 have plenty of free choices that won’t fill up the NI boards with Dell owners reporting dropouts. You can even get software that will, when clicked, convert all .WAV in a folder to .MP3, delete the .WAV and open up a tagging window!
Also NI won’t have to pass the $2.50-$5.00 licensing costs on to consumers (or cut their development budget accordingly). mp3
As for recording .mp3 and then deciding you need to re-encode it for a different purpose - SI=(even smellier)SO
