I went to a party last night and the parking lot, which was next to the DnB stage, was the scene of a mini riot. To disperse the threat, the cops fired a single canister of tear gas. The cloud migrated to the audience and stage area. Evol Intent had just finished playing and I’m sure that they received some of that gnarly coughing, burning fun. I spent the next hour or so in the medics tent along with about 50 people all being treated for the same thing. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with getting caught in a cloud of gas and what the best plan of action is.
just out of interest, was it related to the people who went to see the dnb? the most violence ive ever seen at a dnb gig here was violent spasming due to overdose heh
Seriously? I thought for sure the rest of the world has had it’s share of rioting. What about containment at 90’s UK parties? or Sensation riots? Is LA really that fucked up compared to the rest of the world? JesC? Back me up here ><

It’s a spicy sugary taste that smells like, well, teargas. There’s no other scent like it IMO, but once you breathe it in, you cough. Alot. If it gets in your eyes, you can be temporarily blinded, sometimes permanently. It sticks to your skin and clothes, so breathing through your shirt, although first instinct, is a bad idea. This used to happen alot when i first started partying back in 96/97 but not so much any more. I was sober last night so I was able to help people find the medics tent, including someone who started the downward spiral of a bad cid trip mixed with teargas. She was hawt =p
Yeah I’ve been mased, peppered sprayed & cs gassed. Its not fun, but once ur lungs gets used to it you’ll be fine. You have to pour milk in ur eyes and drink some to clear up ur throat. If your lactose intolerant your screwed! Pouring water just makes it worse.
I’ve seen alot of parties, clubs, rave, underground warehouse parties get raided that way. At least they didn’t use the rubber bullet or the bean bags, those f@cken hurt!
There is always a trigger happy Sergeant (Cop Supervisor) that want to clear the people up asap. So he most likely gave the order to pop a can of cs gas.
Thats so shit. If a police officer did that in NZ they would be in deeeep shiiiiet. There would most likely be national inquiry and it would hit the national news. One of the advantages of living on a small island full of hippies ;]
