Replacement Knobs for Denon X1600???

Replacement Knobs for Denon X1600???

So I just bought a new Denon X1600…I LOVE it!
Best sounding mixer I’ve ever had.
Brightest & most accurate VU meters I’ve seen on a mixer in it’s price range!

But, because of those bright VU meters I have a hard time seeing the position of the
EQs when playing in very dark environments. It’s strange, you would think that it would
illuminate them better, but it doesn’t, it just washes them out, like they’re not even there.

I bought some Yellow Chroma Caps for the Volume Faders, so that’s covered. But,
unfortunately, the X1600’s Potentiometer Posts won’t match up w’ the Chroma Caps
so that they would represent their true frequency value.

Do any of Y’all have any ideas for brighter colored knobs for the X1600’s EQ section?
I thought about just painting the existing ones a lighter, brighter color, but that’s kinda’
ghetto, and besides I would be worried about the paint eventually flaking off and getting
into the rotary Pots & Sliders. I also thought about just getting a small LED light, but I’ve
had those in the past, and they always end up broken, lost, or stolen.

I need some help Ya’ll…THX in advance.

+1, if anyone finds some let us know. the DJTT faders fit fine, i have a glow fader atm and will be picking up more my next order.

If you live in the US, you can always get tons of cheap/free lights from Harbor Freight.

Don’t know about knobs though.

I would kill for a FAT “Croma Cap” style knob for the filter.. :disappointed:

+1
I have a DN-X1700 and absolutely love it!!! But I would very much like replacement knobs. Bright colors etc. give you a visual cue in low-light situations as to what knob you are actually reaching for.

The DJTT Faders fit ok…not perfect, but ok. The knobs are oriented in the wrong way so they are totally useless.

Also, +1 for DJTT encoder knobs with NO INDICATOR LINE Please!

I would also like a solution to this, as I see it will become a problem for me in the future (only got the mixer a few days ago)

I was absolutely tearing when I seen that the DJTT knobs wouldnt fit :disappointed:

Are most knobs universal the way they fit? I mean like do DJTT just make the one type of fitting knob?

How come the DJTT knobs don’t fit? Do they sit too low or does it not fit on the stem or something?

they fit but for the denons they have the same issue as the A&H & pio mixer i.e the indicator lines are offset.

Ah, that sucks. Can’t really fix that so easily.

Nope.

I was hoping that someone could chime in with a different mixer whose knobs would fit the X1600/1700
and happened to be of a lighter shade than traditional black. Hell, at this point I would take any color
other than black. Does anyone know if Ecler knobs would fit and not be offset? Those knobs on the
EVO-4 look just as beefy as the X1600’s, and they are silver…LOL, those bright silvery things could
probably produce their own light in a dark club/rave.

If enough people are interested, I could see if I can get my friend to make a mold to start making the knobs.

Good reason to trade up to the X1700 - illuminated knobs!

Yeah, I wanted the X1700, but I couldn’t justify it. I mean at that price point, I could just as easily
buy a Xone:92 & a few pedals…or even a Xone DB2 for that matter. No, the X1600 was within my
budget this time around, so I have to figure out some way to make those knobs work out. At this
stage I cannot think about replacing a mixer I have only had for a week.
I have to make due with what I have.

If anyone figures something out, please let us know…I will do the same.

I just sent my friend a message. I don’t know if he’s still working on plastic on his free time, but it’s worth a shot.

Would you guys be willing to pay more than a chromacap (smaller production size, will cost more)? What color do you really want if the colors are limited?

ABSOLUTELY!!

Anything other than Black. But I think a light Grey, or White, or something bold
like Yellow would be ideal. The key is that the indicator lines on the pots are
lined in Black, rather than White…you know, just like the Yellow, Grey, Green,
and GND Chromacaps are! A lighter colored knob w’ a contrasting Black indication
line is what will pop out in dark environments.

Okay.

I know that the Chromacaps do fit, but the indicator lines are reversed, so if the indicator lines add too much for a cost (like +1 or 2 bucks per knob) then would you be fine with no indicator line? You’d be able to just sharpie it in yourself :stuck_out_tongue:

LOL, no thanks, Man. If I’m gonna’ do some ghetto shizz like that, I might as well just paint the
one’s I currently have w’ rubber/plastics paint. As a matter of fact, I think I may just do that…
see how it turns out. Though, before I even attempt it, I’ll have to buy a replacement set in case
the results are less than satisfactory.

I’ll keep Y’all posted.

You know, I was unaware of the fact that the Pioneer and Allen & Heath mixers were offset as well.
Are they offset in the same way as the Denon’s? I mean, do the 3 of them all line up the same way?
If so, it would be in DJTT’s best interest to develop a line for just those 3 manufacturers. I mean, how
many peeps out there own Pioneer, A&H, and Denon gear…I would say the majority of DJs that own
mixers, have one of those major 3 company’s products.

I wonder if that’s in the works?
Well, it would only work if they did all match up.

Is there anyone out there that has the means to test this?

I know A&H and Denon are offset since they’re the same company. Didn’t know Pioneer fell under that umbrella too.

Pioneer is the only one I can’t test, but I have a Denon MC3000 coming in. This would help though in pushing my friend to make some since Pioneer is huge. I was worried it was just Denon/A&H.

Say whaaaaaaa
