Request some Hip-Hop Essentials for the Club
I am more of a Electro/Top 40 remix DJ, but I do spin some hip-hop to mix things up. Trying to expand in this department….Request some bangers old or new to get the dance floor hyped.

juvinile-back dat azz up
dead prez - bigger than hip hop
Sit down and recieve an (at least a partial) education in classic hip-hop tracks that tear shit up in a club
Want some more? I’ve got TONS of stuff along these lines …
+1 Yes those! get on that list.
50cent-in da club
the new wiz kalifa is pretty club friendly
More!
(yes I have a bit of a thing for Rawkus records …)
In the words of Saian Supa Crew - so you want some more?
Dude. Can we please keep this bot? That shit is memeworthy.
On topic +1 to pretty much everything Ohms posted.
When I get home I’ll drop a wee bit more science on you …
Hey Ohms - keep 'em coming!
Dayum! I <3 your tastes. Nothing but the good ol’ 90s hip hop. Sadly, those don’t bang at peak time at the club. You gotta go with the popular, booty shakin’ and hype ass stuff. ALWAYS gets the people going : Too Short- Blow The Whistle Montel Jordan- This is How We Do It Dr. Dre- Let’s Get High E40- Tell Me When To Go Dr. Dre- Ain’t No Fun…Almost anything by Lil’ John. You get the point! I’d use the gangstarr, de la soul, ATCQ, Arrested Development, and the Pete Rock and CL Smooth to warm up !
Keeping on an old skool tip, off the top of my head my certified hip hop club bangers are as follows:
Most Wanted - Calm Down
Mantronix - King of the Beats
45 King - 900 Number
Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock - It Takes Two
Eric B & Rakim - Eric B is President
MC Shan - The Bridge
Supernova Cee and Casanova Rudd - Do the James
Audio Two - Top Billin
MC Shan - The Bridge
BDP - Bridge is Over
Hardnoise - Hardnoise
Gunshot - Battle Creek Brawl
Son of Noise - Master of Menace
Hijack - Badman is Robbin
Blade - The Coming Is Near
And any tracks by EPMD, A Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, Ultramagnetic MCs and NWA.
That’s it for now. I’ll think of some more and post them.
I know most of 'em aren’t striahgt up and down club bangers - but then I don’t play in mainstream clubs - I’m more of a second room kinda guy, and use stuff like this to warm up into Nu-Funk/Ghetto Funk/Nu Skool Breaks …
OK, a few more less obvious ones (or at least non obvious remixes)
Anyone fancy some quality UK Hip-Hop next?
Hell yeah. I’ve been trying to get into UK Hip-Hop or a while. Some I like are:
Nextmen
The Anomolies
Aspects
B’Tol
Can tell you’re a Bristol boy ![]()
You heard the B’Tol & Jagos album from a few years back? lovely mellow late nightness. The Bastard Sunz stuff he’s doing with Rogue is a bit more aggy, but Nick still has some flow to him …
Right onto the UK!
Serious nod to the old school UK heads here … Rodney P was a founder member of arguably the first UK hip-hop group, The London Posse.
I have a bit of a soft spot for Stig of the Dump as well …
Got loads of this as well, if you want some more ![]()
Such great great stuff on here… I’m at work and can’t play this stuff out loud but I am dancing in my seat just looking at these pages!
How can you bring up UK Hip Hop and not mention Roots Manuva “Witness”. Biggest UK banger of all time!
Tbh - because every bugger knows it already … I was trying to go for some of the less obvious stuff. It’s a damn fine track mind. You heard the Modeselektor remix from the Ninja Tune XX album?
