Just wondering if anyknow knew of any good sites that allow you to search by the bpm to purchase music?
I’ve been hunting around a bit and I couldnt really come across anything.
It looks like one of my buddys is taking over a bar and I will have a chance to play there in a couple weeks. I might be playing for the entire night yet I’m not sure. I need to fill out my playlist a bit more so I have more room to work when I get out there. Thanks.
none that i know of, but depending on what genre depends on what bpm you’re going to get… eg, you wont find a happy hardcore track by browsing for 112bpm
what genre do you mix or are wanting to mix in this bar?
Tap out the preview. That should be long enough to tell you what the BPM is, there’s free iPhone apps and I saw something in the Mac app store that does the same thing. Not sure about PC’s though.
Helping out at the bar I get the first hour or so that the club is going on like 9 to 10 or 11.
I gotta try to build a fan base and hopefully in a couple months I’ll be able to play later.
So I like mixing in the house spectrum of things however I think that house is too much for the club just starting to fill up. So I was thinking something slower but still in the genre just to show that I realize that a dance floor timeline exist?
Deep house is always a safe bet for such things, though it usually won’t be under 120bpm.
Maybe some mellower indie dance, or hip-hop would be down there.
So I managed to get like 4 or 5 hours of mixing in this weekend while I had a few hands in for a party.
Well it was about 2 by myself and 2.5 while I had the crowd in.
It seems that tech house and deep house are a good start in terms on genre.
I’m not entirely sure what the plan is but I live in a small city so its pretty much top 40’s and loosely termed EDM. Which is another reason why I want to employ effective Djing strategies to get my name out locally. I have been digging threw beatport and trying to develop my own choice of songs that I think will keep the people dancing but in a respective way that keeps the vets happy. Hopefully they will keep me around.
I just need to get a DJ alias and get promoting.
I’m very excited about this.
I was searching for a site to search songs by BPM. I found some sort of database yesterday but I haven’t tracked it down again yet. I’ll post it up if I come across it. Obviosuly it would be subject to error
im glad you’ve found some music that suits your needs - however if it’s going to be mostly top40 after you’ve played, playing tech & deep house might not be the best option.
some classic hiphop may be a better mood setter. see how you go over the next couple of weeks, if people are digging the EDM early on and are dancing etc then stick with it - if not maybe look into playing hiphop instead.
