Should I dj with studio monitors?

I have a pair of Mackie Mr5 mk3 studio monitors. I was wondering whether I should dj with them. Should I use them for home dj practice or should I just use something else? If I can use them, how high should I put the volume so that they don’t go flat or broken? Is there a recommendation for other speakers to use?

Why wouldn’t you use them?

You should put them at a comfortable volume. Whenever people say they need to practice loud, I just shake my head.
