So when's this new NI soundcard coming out?

just got an email from native which is saying:
TRAKTOR DUO: nur 49 €
TRAKTOR PRO: nur 99 €
TRAKTOR SCRATCH DUO: nur 179 €
TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO: nur 299 €

and tspro includes the audio8

I think people are missing my point here.

I’m saying. The S4 edition of Traktor has some nice new features.

You can only use these features if you have an S4

But what if you want these features with Vinyl Control, and you don’t want an S4.

So suppose they release new soundcards, that work with the sample tracks etc in the s4 version of traktor.

And yes this thread is mostly shit stirring. Especially if they end up putting everything back to full price.

The fact that the Interfaces on their own, aren’t half price, suggests this might happen.

allright. s4 software will be only for the s4 controller. have u ever thought about the fact, that ni maybe will release something like a new traktor pro? then they might also release a new soundcart. but like i said, the s4 will be only available with the controller. no chance on purchasing the s4 software on it´s own.

It’s generally accepted that there will be a new version of Traktor within the next few months incorporating the S4’s new features like sample decks.

You don’t need a new soundcard to support that, A soundcard’s a soundcard and there are good ones and bad ones. The NI A2,4 and 8 are all very good soundcards and there’s no need for NI to replace them just yet.

@Rumblejazz - why it is technically possible for NI to release new soundcard ‘dongles’ that will only work with future versions of Traktor, the existing ones are advanced enough to be able to throw pretty much anything you can throw at them

eg. The S4 soundcard is basically just an audio4

Just trying to think of the features they could possibly add to the Audio 8. Maybe a drink cooler on the top and a built in WiFi router :stuck_out_tongue:

They could stick some jog wheels, encoders and buttons on an audio4 and bundle it with a special version of the Traktor software? Or is that too radical?

Wow man, awesome idea… That would probably be the most anticipated controller in recent memory, if not ever…

Just imagine if they released that. With a few teaser videos on youtube this forum and others like it would be going crazy. Shame it would never happen :stuck_out_tongue:

@lethal

Lol i have no more more to add to this thread, i don’t actually think any of this is going to happen. I was just intrigued has to how NI could afford this price slash.

I personally think it could be to clear out boxed copies of Scratch prior to a 2.0 update but it could be, like they say, to celebrate winning awards. If so, it is pretty generous!

Only thing I can think of that they could do to improve the Audio line is to add USB 3.0 support, which I think we can expect sometime near next year’s holiday season, maybe 2012’s holiday season.

Talking about holiday seasons, this is the greatest moment for NI to cut 50%, since holiday season is coming up, I think this year there’ll be a lot of NI branded gifts!

Another reason for NI might be to get people using cracked versions to buy legal versions, since they now come with an A8 for cheap. Then once a paid S4 type upgrade comes, these people will probably buy the legal upgrade since it’s very cheap. Then they are NI customers, so they might buy an S4 or X1. Great way for them to sell more stuff :stuck_out_tongue:

S4 is an integrated system. If you want to use timecode without the S4 you will need an Audio 8/4 but you will be able to use the S4 software. No need for 2 versions.

This will only be possible when the timecode update/upgrade comes out, no date yet.

I still have my Stanton Scratchamp and vinyl. It was very different circumstances that led to me not being able to use that with the latest versions of Traktor, but I still growl to myself when I think of the money I outlayed as a newbie, not knowing it was discontinued.

If I buy TSP I would hope I’m not disappointed again.

Yeah the whole NI/Stanton thing just came to an end. Doesn’t help those that bought FS though.

Buying TSP now will not become redundant.
The software will change,it always does but It will only change by update/upgrade.
I don’t envisage a change like T3 to TPro ever again.

As for the TSP hardware. Audio8 , it’s a no brainer. It will always work with any version.

sentences like this were probably posted elsewhere regarding the komplete6 update sale…

no offense but I’m really pissed with NI at the moment. they have fucked my customer loyalty up the ass with a rake. it will be a long time before I trust them again.

what did they do with komplete 6, i’m saving for 7 at the mo. crazy bargain.

So this could be the way of hooking anyone who has Traktor but doesn’t use the hardware? Sell the Audio 8 for a minimal profit and then make the real money when the software changes. Don’t get me wrong I’m not knocking it. It would seem to be a good business model.

I’m one of those who has Traktor but has resisted buying the soundcard/vinyl because of the additional cost (I was able to upgrade for 70 quid or so). I’ve also bought/made controllers and still don’t feel they are anything like as good as vinyl. So I reckon I could be your target customer. I’ll be honest I’m seriously thinking about it…

if you’re a k5 (or below) user, the upgrade to k7 costs you the same as someone who upgraded to k6 in the meantime. there is no grace period even if you upgraded one week before k7 was announced - nothing. when contacted politely, NI customer service responds with an adequately polite pasted response that pretty much says “yeah sorry, we know we fucked you over, deal with it”. hence many people, including me, are very pissed.

Ouch.

Damn - i’m using TSP with the Audio 8 and timecodes right now. I was to buy the S4 - preordered it but i think i am going to wait now.

When is the TS4 software going to be timecode compatible? I want the ability to use both types of technology when i want
