So when's this new NI soundcard coming out?

There’s a lot of people who want to know that!

This. Retailers won’t order new stock if they have old stock on hand. Tells me a new version of all forms of Traktor is not far off.

refer to my post for details on how this is gonna unfold.

would be a shame if they went to a dongle. thats one of the main reasons i didn’t like Torq (one of many reasons). if they have a TPro update coming, that would make sense for the sale. but i think its funny to see all the speculation about “there must be a new Traktor being released” Yeah, it’s called S4. i know S4 is not Traktor Pro but its

1.2.7 is in beta, i’m guessing we’ll see it before christmas. then a bigger update which will include samplers and other S4 familiar features by March of 2011. i hate to say it, but I think that will be an actual Tpro 2.0 paid update. that way the early S4 adopters aren’t pissed taht they forked out the cash for the new system.

the last thing i want to see is a new dongle soundcard.

Maybe when the Tpro update with samplers is released they can release a Kontrol X2 that gives non-S4 owners a controller taht is geared toward the new layout. similar to what the X1 offers the current Tpro users. does that make sense?

and to finish my first paragraph - i know S4 is not a traktor update but what i meant was that NI is releasing new dj software. so of course they flog the old stuff to clear it out.

not everyone will go to S4, so then when they put out an update those old Tpro and Tduo packages won’t be collecting dust on the shelves.

I think it was Karlos who pointed out that the X1 in fact has the perfect layout for the sampler decks on the top: 4 knobs and 4 buttons on each side.

Agreed and If I might add my humble oppinion,
S4 looks like it was designed with TPro in mind and not with TProS4 (samplers) in mind.

Looking at the S4 (hw/sw) layout, samplers look like an afterthought to cope with new Serato improvements.
The controller is great but when you put it next to TProS4 software it is saying:
“Fuck, Serato finished Bridge and we went into production with this. Let’s change what we can.”

(Note: I love cursing in my posts related to NI software upgrades)

Shouldn’t you be swearing in German then?

KS4 was designed around the software. The software came first.
Sampler was designed way before the hardware so im not sure how you see it like that dude.
It works really well with the software.

As for the X1. It does work really well for the sample functions. Admitidly there could always be a few more buttons needed on anything and a good Sampler mapping for the X1 does mean a lot of double functions but there will be some cool mappings out.
There is one now that was done by a member of the Beta that works just fine in Midi mode.

Tnx for that clarification Karlos. That means that if you really want to use samples, you should pack X1 with S4.

or and LPD8 … X1 is ~4x the price of lpd8. The LPD8 would sit nicely in front of S4. The bad is that it’s an USB1 device though …
