Sold my Xone 22 and bought the Pioneer DJM 250…

insane price…with free 3 day shipping…I ordered it friday afternoon and I picked it up at Fed ex saturday at 4pm. (it shipped out of their west coast wherehouse a few hours away). Guitar center wouldn’t match the price.

review to follow…(but you should buy it if you need a versatile 2 channel mixer)…(now)…

which mixer do you prefer ?

This layout with the Allen and Heath analogue insides would be the ultimate two channel mixer for me being that I still mix 80% vinyl. It frustrates me that no one makes any other decent analogue 2 channels anymore with filters. That being said, I’ve used one of these at a friends place a few times and they are really good little mixers. Good build quality and a nice tight and punchy sound.

I’ve always loved my 22 over the 250, but the 250 is nice as hell.

I was never really crazy about the Xone 22. I hated the cue system and the fact that the filters had the pop. But the build quality, layout and sound output is probably a little better. The DJM has an on and off switch but also lacks a booth output.

I love mine! Just wish they would make a 4 channel version of it!

There are plenty of 4 channel Xones and DJMs.

Yeah i know, i just want something that is has the same simplicity as the DJM250 has got. I just want a dedicated filter per channel and no or not all lot of effects (i will be using Traktor’s own effects) and not spend that much on a mixer. But for the time being this will do.

Wow, killer price. If only I waited until now to buy mine! Sweet mixer though, and for this price I would recommend anybody picking it up if they’re interested in going external or want a new 2 channel mixer.

I prefer the Xone 22 over the DJM 250, but really they are so similar theres not much in it between them, except I think the Xone 22 has a few more features which most people don’t use but could come in handy.

Like using the FX return as a third channel.

The 250 has Aux inputs for a third channel

please give me a “few more”…I loved my xone…I used it for two years…I will say nothing bad about it (others than the things pointed out in my first few posts)…I am currently liking the 250 more based solely on the cue system…

I wish the faders were better and longer, along with the meters…i like to see more green

I can’t expect gold for 176.00 (with free 3day shipping) but i like the 250 so far…

still trying to decide how to use it…any ideas? i want to have it for one shots and accapellas..

I use the third deck with my remix decks and F1. Works great that way.

Congrats on the purchase. That is insanely cheap. Got mine for $300 last year. Mine is black (DJM-250-K) and I love it. So much better than the xone22 in my opinion. I never liked A&H mixers to be honest.

Recently brought some 1210’s and the DJM-250. Was using just a Mixtrack pro before that. Currently I have the output of the Mixtrack going through the AUX input on the mixer so i can still spin my digital tracks and samples (albeit in a very awkward way). Although, pay day tomorrow, so I’m buying myself an A6 and can finally sell my mixtrack. Is suppose you could try and use it in a similar way for one shots.

that’s a great way to use it…work flow is work flow…

it took me about a year to get over not being able to nudge a track forward on a turntable or platter…

Its really horses for courses. They target the same market and essentially have the same features.

the extra “few more” are like

2x Headphone outputs - Not really useful most of the time but I once tried to teach someone to mix and what I did was have two headphones plugged in so I can hear what they were cueing without needing to blast everything out on the stereo. The outputs are different size and so if you forget your little adapter it still works. For the second point that was actually useful for me one time on the novation twitch (dual headphone outputs as well).

FX Send and Receive. I have this hooked up to my A6, so I use the main channel on my A6 as the FX send and receive loop.

FX Return as third channel. Since its analog you can also use the FX input as a third channel. Which is really funny because the filter is always on for sound using this path. I know you can use the AUX on the DJM 250 and you get an actual third channel that way, but you lose mic input.

Dedicated record out, you can have main output, monitor and a record out on the Xone 22. The record out is also -10db.

Do these points make it a better mixer than the DJM 250? Not really. As I said before horses for courses.

The Xone is funadamentally flawed in the cue system and filters.
