slightly more subtle troll post?

pretty much the whole video is comparing them to beats by dre

The red cable looks cool?

I used to have a pair of 7506’s, thought they were great but wanted something better. I ended up with HDJ-2000’s…yes the HDJ’s were better headphones, but it was then when I really appreciated how well the 7506’s sounded for the 85 bucks I paid for them. If these sound anything similar they’re well worth the 56 bucks.

Ha! Damn it…he got me. I should’ve watched the video.

7506 and v6 headphones are great but I wouldn’t use them for DJing. still use mine for production with upgraded pads and they are solid.

those look like the exact same build and mold as the v700 headphones just colored- which definitely have their durability issues

Looks like the same hinges that break really easily on other Sony models. I did really like the sound of my old Sonys, until they fell apart…

If they’re anything like other Sony models, that’s a good deal, if you’re gentle with them.

let you know when they arrive.

i expect a full video review, and not one mention of beats like every other vid i found on these

I can only compare them to my previous 3 headphones:

Sony MDR-V6: Amazon.com

Audio Technica ATH-M30: Amazon.com

SENNHEISER HD-205: Amazon.com

Wanted to try something new.

They look exactly like the MDR-V55 except for the color and the cord. And they cost $30 more.

Same “HINGE” that everyone complains about. Maybe they reinforced it.

I’ll post back when I get the V55’s.

The cable on the 55s is ludicrously short. Pretty much unusable for DJing without an extension of some sort.

They are ROUGHLY the same as the MDR-V500dj, but there are differences. The tsunami destroyed the factory and tooling last year-the MDR-V500DJ is never coming back, nor is the 700. The 7506 is the only legacy model that is being made again. The 55 is based on the old model, but is not voiced the same (it is made with a more consumer-voiced leaning, not the low-stereo image mid-heavy focus of the 500), and the cable is short as hell and not as beefy.

It is cool as a cheap consumer option, but it isn’t really a replacement for the 500.

Oh, and it is the same hinge that breaks when you look at it.

The 7506, V6, and V600 have been regarded as the “industry standard” for decades by studio professionals and audio engineers, and at less than $100, they’re a much better value than those “beats” crap.

How far do you guys stand from the mixer?

The cord on the V55’s is 4 feet long (47.2")

My HD 205’s had a 10’ cord that was annoying as hell. I had to tie a loop and heat shrink it down to 5 feet.

EDIT: Just pulled out my broken HD 205’s that I used for 6 years and measured the cord I modified. 50 inches plug to ear. Wow. 3 inches longer than the V55’s. Guess I hate long cords.

So can pay $35 more for a coiled cord and less bass. Got it.

bottom line is I have to try them on. This is the first time I buy online without trying them first.

for $56 it seems like a no brainer.

I searched high and low because I too was going to buy the V55’s because they look cool, and I like Sony ‘DJ’ headphones. I finally found a place where I could demo them, and I was so disappointed. Ended up getting some Senn HD 25’s in the end and I’ve never looked back, fantastic headphones, though I do miss the… floppiness of a broken in pair of Sonys.

I hope I like them. I won’t pay more than $80 for headphones.

I’ll DJ with earbuds if I have to.

Ok. Got them yesterday and tested them out for two days. I love these headphones.

For less than $100 these are hard to beat. For $56, I should buy an extra pair. I thought the bass might be overwhelming for DJing, since these are compared to Beats by DRE so often, but it’s nice and balanced with the mids and highs complementing the bass. They look and feel amazing and they are comfortable as hell. The cord is short, but it works for me. I don’t dance around the stage, and if I have to step away from the mixer, I pull off my headphones.

PROS:
Quality build and stylish design.
Super soft earcups and extremely comfortable fit.
Very nice balanced sound. Good bass, pronounced mids and sizzling highs.
Flat cord is awesome.
Bargain Basement price.

CONS:
Cord could be a little longer. (only 47.2 inches)
No 1/4 inch adapter included.
No storage pouch included.
