sparkfun monome?

hey guys.
I was wondering, has anyone made their own monome clone out of the parts from sparkfun? or, if no one has, how would you go about it? i am wondering, because of course, i would want to do this, and was wondering how it could be accomplished (as the total cost seems to be less than that of a monome kit)

Having just bought and sold a Monome (because of the tactile feel, didn’t like it myself) I’d say to check out the Arduinome projects out there (that is the name for the clone kits) which some people resell parts for, such as the enclosures etc.
