Really feeling this - I currently have a Numark Mixtrack and would really wish for a more sturdy setup that I don’t need to use a shift button incessantly for. It also now only costs $700 for both decks and the mixer. Thing is, there were massive problems with this when it was released - supposed to be fixed now although I believe there is no Traktor 2 support as of yet.. which I am actually pretty okay with. Any experience with this system? The vinylness and the customization flexibility seems really cool - especially for now such a cheap price. was originally thinking about waiting for VCI 400 but this seems even better.
I was more than happy to get off my Mixtrack. Going from a Mixtrack to the SCS.1D/1M setup sounds rather awesome to me. But I’m not sure you’d get any personal feedback on the units, I haven’t heard/seen any coverage/usage of the 1D and 1M here.
I’ve seen feedback saying it was an awesome idea that integrates everything, etc.. but the breaking points were the ridiculous price and some of the features (no traktor 2, firewire, etc..). Just wondering if issues have been resolved in setting it up, as it looks great, fits all my needs, and I don’t really have a problem using traktor 1.2.7.
will be better when mixxx is more developed as it will have uid support, so can get the full res out of the scs 1d. unless uid gets added to traktor 2, which would be awesome. as of now it relies on da router which is ok but not great.
there is also the possible of this new one software having better support for it. so we will see just stanton don’t seem to have a good rep wen it comes to working with others
The SCS.1 controllers now have totally native high resolution support in VirtualDJ. This is probably your best bet for compelling performance. The native support is sick, and both Stanton and VDJ have done a great job implementing it.
Tom, I think you meant “HID”. But SCS.1 controllers don’t speak HID anyway - they communicate via standard MIDI.
yea i mean hid. its good to see stanton are playing nicly wit sum1 shame its not NI though. just looking at the midi stack and from what i can tell from a quick look it can be hardware or software layer. Is the scs 1d just outputting midi data or some form of raw data.
it would be good to see this product see its full potential just not sure how behind it stanton are these days
I am quite turned off by using VDJ - wondering about how reliable the traktor support is. Just browsing forums on the Stanton site it feels like there are solutions to the common problems with DaRouter, and that the previous major overhaul to the communication between hardware and software has resolved most issues - the only main thing now is that there is still only a beta for Traktor 2 compatibility (not a big issue to me as I am fine using 1.2.7 still).
Any thoughts? Experience with these controllers with traktor?
I have a SCS1D & SCS1M and it works fine with Traktor 2.03 only problem is some platterdrift with scratching.
I bought the set new for 398€ in Holland.
I bought the set at the store Feedback in Hilversum.
No problems with Darouter,i use the standard preset and TSI file in Darouter and Traktor.
Changed some setting in the TSI file like delete the panknobs and replaced them for a filterknob and changed rotary acceleration from 2 to 29.
Scratching sounds good but could be better.
I’m interested on buying this equipment, especially for scratching,I’ve read in forums that the platter had a bad response, then I saw some videos on youtube talking about a new firmware to this scs1d,can anyone tell me if the controller is working fine now?does the platter drift still happen?
The response seems to be better in Traktor 2.6 but still not perfect and the platter drift is still there.
In Virtual DJ everthing is much better, there’s no platterdrift at all and the response is very fast, another advantage with Virtual DJ is that you don’t have to use Darouter,i think that’s the reason why it works so much smoother.
If you wanna buy this set to scratch in Traktor i would say don’t do it,you will be disappointed or use a turntable with timecode and connect it on the SCS 1M mixer.
Another reason is that Stanton don’t give any support so ther’s no hope for better drivers.
I still think the Stanton SCS 1D and 1M is a very good product(for the 398€ i paid) and it works good with Traktor but the scratch possibility is dissapointed and that was the reason i bought this set after watching the same video on youtube(Stanton SCS.1D with B-Side) but that guy works for Stanton so i should have know better.
Thanks for the reply:wink:
I have a friend who is selling a couple SCS1D for 225€ each,I think it is a good deal,but I guess I’ll have to let go…I wanted it specifically for scratching,so I needed a honest reply from a scs1d user,thanks again.
Guess what?! I went to my friends place for a test, and I felt in love with the SCS1D!the equipment/platter is huge!I have checked the native .tsi from stanton and I edited scratch acceleration from 2% to 0%,and I must say it is flawless!!!I’m almost sure there is no platter drift, like has B.Side said there can be 0.01 drift… when you mentioned that VDJ is better, you got me second guessing about the platter drift, I remember that since Traktor 2.0.3 the MIDI interaction with Traktor is very accurate.
Now I think I’m going to buy one or maybe two!
thanks for the replies audiojunk66,you’ve been very helpful!
The only possible negative with any Stanton units, is the lack of support.
Just look at the stanton forum (http://forum.gibson.com/index.php?/forum/112-stanton/) its DEAD as hell.
The guys have been sent away, and the new guys don’t give a f*** for the customers.
No reply on the forum, neither the PM’s nor the e-mails sent to them.
The SCS.1 units use to get LCD problems. Some have them right away, some (like mine) just f***s up after a little time. And guess what, Nobody replies what causes this or how could been repaired.
If you buy, then buy locally with 3 years of warranty. And keep the papers in a safe place. Just in case.
But if the one you buy is working, than you are right. They are the best ever controllers on the planet.
But now I started to miss the VDJ skin that Stanton showed on NAMM show.
I agree with you,it is one of the best controllers I’ve tried, next to NS7,then NS6, VCIs,Akais…
that sucks about the stanton support…if the brand doesn’t care,f**k them!I remember a few years back with my 1st controller BCD2000,it also didn’t had support from behringer to work with Traktor3,VDJ,deckadance,etc., I remember I had to use MIDI YOKE and MIDI RULES to workaround the jogwheels problem, then later some computer brain hacker made a workaround for the jogwheels to work OK,maybe if more people know about this great controller, some new hackers might come up with more solutions…it would be great!I would love to edit the preset for Traktor, edit the text stripes for FXs and Triggers, is there a way?
