when i first saw it i thought total control as well.
imo i would hold out untill eks release the Otus RAW and go with 2 of them! My dream system, coupled with a faderfox would be cool!

Just one is really awesome/useful. I get mad usage out of it.
Beware of the sticky cue/play buttons though. both me and the other DJ in town that has one, both have strange sticky cue/play buttons weird!
Im having a dilemma as a well.
Im a bedroom DJ who would eventually like to play out. I’ve got a laptop and a main DAW I use for Ableton track creation/recording. The DAW has a sound card (Delta-66) and the laptop does not (real external one anyway).
I’ve also got a BCR 2000 and a Trigger Finger. I recently moved my Korg MS2000 (which is my main keyboard for ableton to the table I used to have my Techniques 1200’s and mixer on (they’re in a coffin now, figuratively & literally) so that I can more easily use the BCR with Traktor.
I bought the BCR for Ableton and VST control. I recently bought Traktor and am using the BCR for Traktor and Ableton now, which I’d rather not do. I’d rather have a dedicated midi mixer for Traktor and use the BCR for Ableton. Im conflicted on what my next move should be.
I like the way the VCM mixer looks and looooove the setup they have going with the custom stand for the laptop. I also love the fact that it has a sound card for playing out with a laptop. I dont loooove the friggn price and right now wont be buying it because the price and because I dont need the sound card right now.
Im really loving the VCI-100SE more and more now with all the in-depth features Ean and DJTT have highlighted. I love the fact that it has been tested and put through hell and that Vestax has also responded to its few cons that have been brought up. To me this is the top runner right now because of its heavy use and community already dedicated to the ins and outs of the thing. However, again, I dont like the price…its a midi controller…
Since I’ll be saving up for these next big purchases over the year…I dont really want to buy anything in the mean time. Looks like I might have to make due though.
btw wtf is up with the Otus? I cant find any info (besides what has been mentioned here and the few videos on myspace). Has anybody done an in-depth review yet? I really thought it looked promising when I 1st heard of it but the more I see the VCI the more Im leaning towards it. The giant jog wheel was one of the things that turned me on about it.
Im new to the digital method of Djing and always thought these “controllers” looked and felt like toys. Toys made for little kids with tiny hands. I loved the Vestax premium series mixer that Carl Cox helped design and his main reason for designing it the way he did: “I have big hands”. I’ve never liked the tiny nature of things I have to use my hands with…it deprives me of precise accuracy, CONTROL and it’s very uncomfortable. The jog wheels were one of the things that turned me off from the VCIs initially. I also hated (and still am not too fond of) how close the jog wheels are to each other. I understand “compact” but Im not typing on a keyboard…Im queuing a track and would like some breathing room. A cool feature I’d like to see is an option of breaking them apart or keeping them together (the jog wheels). I don’t know…maybe because I’ve not actually played on one of these before and it may be something I just have to get used to.
However…the more I think about it the more Im not sure. On one hand the VCI jog wheels are a bit small but on the other hand…Im not sure I need them that big anymore…Im not using vinyl. Plus they are light and tension adjustable. The Otus wheel is sexy but looks a bit heavy…like a Tech 1200 platter and heavy is what I’d want….with vinyl but with digital I think I’d like it light enough to quickly seek through tracks.
I loathe the idea of that pitch adjust touch on the Otus and would have much rather they put the high-res long pitch adjust that the VCI-300 has. Im not sure how the pitch adjust on the RAW compares to the VCI-300. It seems the longer Otus takes to make a niche and community for itself…the more attractive and versatile the VCI becomes.

Anybody using any of the above and is anybody actively using the Trigger Finger with Traktor?

As Bento might tell you, forget the Nocturn, it might be nice for music production, but for Traktor it’s a no go. 
VCM-600 is very very good for me -yes i have one.
But it has no soundcard, it’s only a controller, a very good controller but expensive if you ask me.
