I’m in the market for a new controller under 1k. Im looking at the VCI-300 VCM-100. But I am open to any suggestions.

Do you want it to be a standard DJ style controller?
Im open to any midi controller, Im open also to Midi Keyboard/Synth.
I’d look at the Remote 25SL. I really like mine, LOTS of controls and lots of really good built-in MIDI mapping possibilities. ![]()
I think these are pretty functional. More for Ableton, but you didn’t specify.

A Monome would be a great addition to any setup as well.
wow those ohms are so delicious!
what about an eks otus?
otus are nice but I really dont like the pitch being touch sensitive, Im really considering the 25SL, anyone here have the VCM-100?
Well, you could always wait for the EKS Raw, if you don’t like the touch sensitive pitch fader. ![]()
A VCM-100 can be nice, it just all depends on what kind of control would you like to have next to your VCI?
Once you have that one cleared, the MIDI controllers will be there for the picking. ![]()
I got the vci-300 but must say that the vcm-600 looks pretty cool and has lots of control possibilities, only the vcm is not that great if you work a lot with cuepoints if you ask me.
For me the ultimate controller is the xone 3D/4D but that while take a while ![]()
Like Tekki said its all about wich control you like and how you gonna use it.
Make one.

Ill pass on anything made by Xone (
Fancy Fisher Price :eek![]()
The reason I was looking at the VCM-100, its very compacted, and sometimes I play in places that are very tight. I dont believe I would use the on board sound card (VCM) being that I have the audio 8.
That’s the first time in 13 years I’ve heard Allen & Heath referred to as fisher price!
So why go for a vci-300 then if you dont use the soundcard and already got a vci-100?
After a year into digital dj and 2 controllers i now know that i need as much faders, knobs and rotaries as possible, wish i knew that earlier then i already had my fancy fisher price 4D.
IMO the jog wheels & buttons for play/pause/cue feel like they were made for the xponent (dont mean to start a war now) and the eq knobs are too small for my gorilla hands! Plus the 3D/4D are too big!
Seriously who in their right mind is going to lug this around for a 1 - 2 hr set? Xone made these mixers for Elite Techno Dj’s, so the rest of (DJs) followers could kill there life saving in purchasing the Xone mixer and later being sold on Ebay b/c they didnt have any use for it.
Now one thing that I do love from the A&H mixers are the sound quality, they sound very crisp.
Have you looked at the Faderfox controllers?
These are compact, and loadsa DJs use 'em too!
Jesus! Those pixs are huge!
FaderFox DJ2 $389, wow thats alot! For that price I would just get the vcm for $400.
The pics are huge, larger than live actually. XD
They do cost a lot, I agree, but they seem to have the Mackie built quality, or so I am told.
Thats why im waiting a while for a good second hand one and the size isnt a problem for me. Its still better then the good old vinyl bags.
Reloop digital jockey seems to be quite nice also, altough i think the build quality isnt as good as vestax or faderfox.
Reloop looks like too much like a toy & a bad knock off of the VCI-100
it actually looks more like the total control.
