got some pretty good feedback on my last mix which i appreciated and took into consideration. have also been doing only harmonic mixing lately (instead of going by ear). my roommate went back home for a few weeks and i made this mix for him to give to his friends, so some of the songs i have definitely used in mixes before (i think?), basically because they’re just too fucking good.
if you’ve ever seen simian mobile disco live before, i tried to do an homage to the ways they cut into their tracks… obviously nowhere near as good as them but hey they’re inspiring..
Playlist looks quite good, i am really curious about Wow(Modeselektor Remix) between those Teenage Bad Girl tracks, and the CCC Apocalypse/Daft Punk Technologic mashup.
Give it a listen later or tomorrow dude!
[Edit:]
And everyone here should get an soundcloud account! Don’t like imeem so much. And the comment functionality there
is super straightforward, and perfect to point out the good and bad things on a mix!
those parts in the mix are definitely fun hahaha. and as i type this, i signed up for soundcloud (you’re right, much better than imeem) and am uploading this right now to it. i’ll post that as soon as it’s done
First i thought the intro is way to fucking cheeeeeesy, but how it then fit together with the Stress remix was amazing.
I really like your mixing style, the transitions are all good, even the ones with bpm changes.
Nice effect usage, not to much and to crazy and on the right time.
But what annoys me right now, are the tracks you choose.
You start kind of hard with the first 3 tracks,
and then drag it down with “Glass Candy - Miss Broadway”.
My problem with this is the kick is not hard enough and too slow,
that would hardly make me dance in the club. And it goes like this until Cocotte comes in.
But in the end the Technologic mashup you play is amazing,
i would maybe put an HighPass on the DaftPunk Sample to keep the Middle and Bass of the CCC louder.
Yeah the intro is definitely a bit cheesy but what can I say, it worked out.
the part from miss broadway to sleep deprivation was from a mix simian did for mix mag (i believe it was?). i know it won’t really make people dance, but i think that song kicks ass and it builds nicely into sleep deprivation.
and yeah i actually threw in the technologic sample on the fly, wasn’t planned out at first but i noticed that their keys were harmonically mixable. next time the middle and bass of CCC will come through much more clear and noticeable.
