Hey all, I frequent the DJing side of DJTT a lot more than the production, but I’m working on a dubstep track and I’m thinking a YOY type bass would be a great addition to the track. I’m looking for a sound that’s similar to the YOY synth that starts to come in around 16 bars after the drop in Flux Pavilion’s Got 2 Know. ATM I use NI’s Razor Synth, and I’m thinking that I would be using a somewhat basic bass along with the vowel filter, and some drive put on with a saturator. I’ve tried a huge amount of combinations like this, but can’t seem to get anywhere near the sound I’m looking for. Does anyone have a tutorial, or maybe some tips for how to make this sound with Razor?
get massive and use the “modern talking” waveform, for example. in razor, I don’t know. might try it out over the week-end and post here. in essence, any lfo-triggered vowel filter sweeping between “I” and “O” should do…
Yeah, see the whole getting massive thing just might not work right now. I’m shit broke. I’m waiting on a gig to get some funds, but all of that gig money might have to go to food and my Ibiza Fund.
Lowpass filter and bitcrusher should do the job. Make sure to turn the resonance up. Play around with the parameters and eventually you’ll find the sweet spot.
