those little blue and silver cans

those little blue and silver cans

Is anyone else addicted to redbull? I can seem to get off the stuff. Its so delicious. I’m looking for a redbull anonymous group to join lol.

I was shooting a Red Bull event once and they had barrels of the stuff all over the place. I was sick to my stomach by 7:00 pm.

Oh I would be a twitchy mess 10 minutes after I got there lol how did you function with “barrels” of the good stuff?

pah, as a native austrian i drank too much from it already, can’t even smell it anymore ^^

Warning: Old Man Rant.

How old are you dripstep..? Don’t answer, it’s not important.

Drinking a lot of Redbull may lead to some nasty health issues.
I drank a few cans at each gig, 3 or 4 gigs a week. I was also drinking a lot of Lucozade.

I was doing this to be alert as my gigs and day job were clashing etc.

It was all great fun.

Then i suddenly got really really really bad thrush.

I had my johnson looked at and the Doctor said that it was one of the worst cases she had seen in a long time.

Thrush is caused my many things but in a some cases its because of too much sugar in your piss. She asked if i drank sugary drinks and a lot of alcohol. Guilty on both counts so she did a Diabetes Test and it was THROUGH THE ROOF.

Diagnosis: Late onset Diabetes Type 2 caused by excessive and prolonged drinking of sugary drinks and alcohol.

Type 2 does not kill like Type 1, it kills more slowly and leads to heart disease and liver and kidney failure.

Prognosis: Irreversible Type 2 Diabetic for life.

One nurse compared drinking RedBull in large quantities to taking amphetamines in small doses. Obviously without the psychological effects.

In your 20s?, go easy.
In your 30s, dont drink it.
In your 40s, get checked out for Diabetes Type 2 before drinking it.

My story is NOT out of the ordinary, its very common.

Im as fit as a butchers dog now. Lost a stone and a half and started running again.

Now, I know that you youngsters will be thinking “yeah whatever grandad”… thats cool, but i also know that there are a lot of members on here in there late 20s and 30s, maybe 40s, and trust me you guys wont be finding it so funny.

Jus sayin’

i quit drinking red bull and started drinking club mate (Club-Mate - Wikipedia) that stuff is the shit!

Abso-fucking-lutely! I’m basically addicted to that stuff, I even started drinking it instead of coffee in the office…:sunglasses:

Never liked Red Bull though…

sugar-free red bull

This.
Every summer they have an adult pool party every sunday called “DETOX” at hard rock hotel near me. I have a friend that dj’s it. They have a red bull drum thats filled with cans and cans of it. You’ll find yourself drinking it as its water by the end of the day.

I’m tempted to do the red bull challenge next year. i think tiesto has a record of drinking 23 of them one night. i’ll look it up

Karlos, you make me sad.

Never before have I been so convinced that a company was capable of selling happy as when I found redbull.

Also, the nurse is a moron, depending on what she meant by small doses. Amphetamine in small doses isn’t harmful. Plus, Caffeine and Amphetamine work on completely different systems.

Yeah i realise the nurses comment was trite and said in jest.
Im just drawing attention to the fact that Redbull is pretty bad for you.

Amphetamine even in small doses can cause psychosis so its bad for you but im sure you know that.

Im afraid not. Sugar-Free Redbull contains aspartame which has been proved to raise glucose levels in blood and if drunk in large quantities can also be responsible for late-onset Diabetes.

I developed extreme insomnia when I was in college due to stress and was told to stop drinking anything caffeinated. That was 2 years ago. Even though I sleep fine now, I still am afraid to drink anything with caffeine, eat chocolate or drink any mixed drinks with redbull in them. I don’t even drink soft drinks due to the sugar.

But about Redbull, I drank 2 in a night before and could feel my heart beating in my hands…never drank it again.

I’m glad I posted this thread. Karlos, thank you. You may have just inadvertently saved my life. I’m 27 and drink 2 cans a day usually. I’m not doing that anymore. I know that caffeine is bad, but never thought about the sugar. I won’t be drinking as much as I was drinking. Thank you Karlos. Seriously.

Water is all your body needs you to drink! Everything else is what marketing tells you need to drink.

Yeah mate, i have been an idiot. I was drinking a LOT of it because i was working at a club where the manager was one of my best friends. I did not pay for a can of RedBull or a bottle of beer for year and i was drinking myself to death.
I am not exaggerating but please dont take my story of over indulgence to heart. Drinking Redbull responsibly is fine. Just like doing anything responsibly is fine.

My diabetes was also alcohol induced but in one night i could have 12 bottles of beer, 4 redbulls and a pack of Jelly Bears. Do that 3 or 4 nights a week and shit goes wrong.

Having 2 cans of Redbull a day will increase your dependency on sugar and it will impair your bodies ability to process the sugar (produce enough insulin).

Just have it when you really need it cus the chances are when you really want a boost you will actually need it cus your sugar may be low or your just tired.

Didnt want to scare anyone.

AMen to that.

meh…I’m more of a Rockstar and/or Monster guy

and

don’t go together.

First, there’s nothing in red bull that’s specifically harmful unless you’re unaware of what’s in it and don’t manage your diet to include reasonable amounts of it. It’s basically just caffeine and sugar, neither of which is particularly harmful on their own unless you aren’t aware you’re consuming them. The rest of what’s in it are very hard to overdose on or are nonessential amino acids (like Taurine) or vitamines which your body produces on its own and just gets excreted when you have too much. It puts a bit more stress on your kidneys to do it, but if you’re healthy…it’s not a danger unless you go stupid with it.

The sugar spike is a concern…but it’s also thirty-something mg of sugar in ~8 ounces of drink. Manage it properly, and that’s not a ridiculous amount…it’s just not something you want to be knocking back without thinking about it.

I think the biggest concern is that alcohol also burns for calories. A jagerbomb works out to about 200 calories depending on the size of the glass, and nobody knows that. You drank 10 jagerbombs at the club last night? That’s about an extra day’s worth of food for a 180-pound man. Have fun gaining weight and becoming diabetic.

Also, I have seen no valid scientific research leading to that conclusion about amphetamine; if you’ve seen differently, please post it. Reading about psychopharmacology is a hobby of mine (I was about to go to grad school for it before I decided to go down a different path and have been published in the field).

Now, Methamphetamine is dangerous and scary, but that’s not at all the same thing. It’s the same kind of anti-drug BS that leads people to make horrible decisions based on bad information.

The truth will always be more effective in getting people to make responsible decisions about any recreational or medicinal drug use compared to the scare tactics that most governments and anti-medicine/vaccine morons employ. It only takes a few

“wait…you mean scientists say this one isn’t dangerous either?”

to lead to

“Screw it…all drugs must be safe in all quantities”.

The truth of “hey…these drugs are probably safe-ish if you’re responsible and safe, though there are some serious risks you should be aware of in order to make the right decision for you…oh, and these other ones are insanely addictive and/or incredibly dangerous, so you should probably just not bother with them”…that would work better to keep people from dying.

Sorry…bit of a pet peeve of mine.

That’s flat-out wrong in at least one context: vigorous, long-term exercise. Your body needs to replace electrolytes when you’re sweating, and once you approach glycogen depletion, you will do damage to your muscles if you stay depleted and keep pushing. And simple carbs dissolved in the right kind of salt-water (e.g., gatorade, powerade, and the like) are the fastest and most controllable ways to fix both of those issues.

They’re terrible for you at rest unless you’re hyperthermic, dehydrated, or malnourished. But they’re actually very good in the situations they were designed for.

Soda is just gross and scary and has no benefits…it’s just not that bad in moderation and tastes good and sometimes comes with a relatively safe and legal stimulant high. IMHO, it makes more sense to cut out all of those except for the one you like…for me, that’s red bull.

I drink red bull fairly often because I think it tastes like happy. But I haven’t had more than 20 ounces of any other kind of soda in a week in the last 12 years. They don’t taste like happy, and they come in bigger containers that are even dumber to drink in one setting…I think my way works.

The snow sports society at my uni is sponsored by relentless. End up getting ridiculously wired before we hit the snowdome.
Also pretty sure red bull will sponsor anything that is either classed as extreme or involves staying up a long time.

My family owns a restaurant here, which means I could get all the beer/energy drinks/soda/food/snacks/candy I want.

Could. Energy drinks and whatnot are very nice (considering the fact that I had a 23 fl oz can of AriZona iced tea, 16 oz can of NOS, or 16 oz can of Full Throttle after school almost every day), but I still prefer water or Gatorade over everything.

mostapha, I see you’re heavily against misinformation.
