TP2/TSP2 Kontrol X1 Deck/Sample Mapping (Biach)

TP2/TSP2 Kontrol X1 Deck/Sample Mapping (Biach)

Sooooo due to the request of many users who thought NI’s new TSI was a big f*ck you to the people who used the X1 with the native mapping, I’m planning on merging these 2 bad boys.

I will make them compatible with either 4 deck control (A/B native and C/D samplers) and as C/D (if you use a controller/TT/CDJ to control your main decks) being able to toggle deck modes on the fly for the lower ones. This TSI will contain both modes and you will be able to choose between them for tighter integration with your setup. Mode 1 (4 decks) will control FX units 1/2 and Mode 2 (C/D) will control FX units 3/4. If you use 2 X1 you can load both modes and have control over the 4 FX units but in the following layout 1/2 (left) and 3/4 (right).

Any insight before I start working with my ultra secret resizable mapping window (not really)?

dude, well done for taking the hit! I’d put up my tsi (and will if you like) but it’s very unrefined as I basically bastardised the old 4 deck mapping I was using to enable sample decks. There are a load of modifiers left lying around and I need to rebuild it from scratch with the standard mapping after I’ve played with all the possible functions.

When I first got it I did something to the browse section which i like but can’t remember what it was lol so that’s why i didn’t start from scratch in the first place (I was lazy basically )

What are your loop recorder plans?

To avoid having people to relearn things, keep it as close to the official one as possible, but I’m open.

The only thing I will change to make everyone happy is have The samplers play/pause (when using one shots) act as CUP.

I had a beta of this built with the S4 software but I have no clue where I left it  It was based on the early sample deck X1 mapping so a few things were different.

The final TSI will have left and right pages, so people can choose which mode they want to load.

The main thing I can think of is to use the top half (with the 8 buttons and adjacent knobs) to be used as sample deck control. The buttons on the left half would control/launch the 4 decks on deck c (same with deck d for right half) and the knobs would control level/filter. Perhaps make the knobs control levels automatically and shift+knob controls filter? I think that would present a problem since the knob may nit be in standard 12 o cock position.

Those are my main thoughts.

Ive started to remap mine in this exact way. Shift + Knob to control the filters. Im finding that the level of the filter Jumps to the level of the main vol when i switch between shift and non-shift.

I’ve started using the left encoders and FX 1 + 2 buttons for controlling the loop recorder - top encoder for loop length, bottom encoder for D/W, FX1 button for rec and FX2 button for play/pause.

Also mapped some of the buttons in the lower section to load a recorded loop into one of the sample slots.

Not perfect by any stretch but its a start.

First build is done, I need to make the explanatory PDF and I’ll upload it.

will take a good look at this when its ready!!

It’s up

Will this work well with Duo 2 or not so much? I’m clueless when it come to midi mapping unfortunately.

yo padi, any chance you could fill out one of these: http://www.traktorbible.com/freaks/controllertemplates.aspx to make it nice and clear? Just use black for standard and red for shift or somthing? I’d love you to bits if you did

I considered it, but at some parts I just needed to write more (besides from the fact that I needed to use 3-4 pics), so it would be one cluttered pdf.

Woha, 155 downloads in 3 days. Guess people were eager to get it :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey Padi,

I am just setting up my X1 for the first time and I’m looking for a mapping which uses the native functions on the X1 for playback, FX etc but also incorporates the control of 2 sample decks via midi mode perhaps??

I will be using it alongside a Timecode CDJ setup with a DJM 600.

Is your mapping the one I need?

thanks

You’ll need a separate midi mapping since you can’t combine midi in an NHL mapping.

You can do all that with NHL in mine, gonna post a tweaked version for A/C B/D for timecode users.

All I need to do is delete a command.

Thanks for the replies. that would be great Padi if you could. When do you think you will be able to do this? Can I still use your mapping for the required functions for the time being?

Also, what does NHL stand for?

I thought I knew what NHL stood for, but I can’t think of it now. It’s NI’s proprietary HID protocol.

I’ll upload it when I get home. Right now it’s meant for Decks C and D, changing between sample deck and track deck when you swap control mode.

NHL= Native Hardware Library

Yo Padi man. Any chance of hooking me a up with that mapping? Thanks bro

Assign Left to A and right to B. Please inform any bugs encountered.

Press Left Shift + FX1 to switch between Deck A/C focus, same applies to the right, so they are independent from each other.
