This is not some inconvenience. DJ software is supposed to play audiofiles. If it doesn’t, that is a critical bug. And critical bugs should have priority.
(Note to myself: Think again about going back to DJDecks.)
That potential feedback is interesting, didn’t realise there was a bug but lately when mixing on my Xone 4D there has been crackles and the likes when using delay and reverb together, so hopefully it resolves that, noticed when I ramp up fx on one deck or two decks too much this happens, make sure i patch that tonight!
doh .. got stung by that one the first time yesterday as well
the track worked though when i copied it to another deck. hmm i guess i should try if it will work on the original deck as well after a restart.
Has anyone else run into a Service Center error when trying to upgrade from 1.2.3 to 1.2.4 with the message:
Server communication error: HTTP/1.0 400 Invalid portnumber
When I went to update to 1.2.4 I got a short Service Center update that ran successfully and then when it relaunched this message keeps coming up. Although, oddly in the bottom left of the SC window it says Status: Online.
I also tried completely uninstalling SC and downloading the latest stand alone installer to no avail. Internet is connected with no firewall and all my other internet apps are working just fine.
I’m pretty upset about this. I agree completely. I’m really forgiving when it comes to little software imperfections, but any bug that results in silence at the press of a button is a Major F@#$ing deal for a DJ program. This update is a hotfix?? NI is really disappointing me on this one. I have used all of the official channels, filed the reports, PM’d real human beings, and not so much as a confirmation from the powers that be, that they are aware of the problem.
I hate second guessing my rig. I don’t want to think about whether or not I have a .m4a file loaded, or if I loop the end of a track, how close that loop is to the last couple beats.
I’m also concerned about how I created a thread for this issue on DJTT, and didn’t get even one reply. Not one. Are people seriously not experiencing this? I can reproduce it consistently. WTF?? (loses mind)…
yeah i’m also having the itunes song problem, it seems to happen when i pause a track search backwards through it then try to play it again, after the hotfix too
My guess is that 1. a lot of people just “play” songs and don’t use looping especially near the end of it and 2. although this happened to me with mp3s from Beatport, it doesn’t happen as often with mp3 as it does with m4a (at least on my system). And there’s more people around here buying their stuff as mp3 or wav than iTunes customers. And as far as certain other sources are concerned, mp3 is sort of an “industry” standard. Heavy m4a users are probably a smaller group amongst Traktor users, I guess.
Still, as NI advertise their software as capable of playing m4a, it should do that properly. I am not quite as furious as you are about this, but still a little pissed. I mean, free stuff like mixxx or DJDecks, which I got for 25 bucks back in the days, play m4a files just fine, and so did the pre-1.2.x-traktor versions until they f***ed up the caching scheme. Why don’t they just go back?
If it wasn’t for my custom Otus configuration, I would go back to 1.1.2 for now. Sadly I can’t just save it and load it into 1.1.2, it just doesn’t work properly.
Yeah man, I hear you. And I’m inclined to agree. It’s not an issue for me for the most part, I hardly use any m4a files regularly - I’ve got maybe 20 or 30 of ‘em. But where it comes into play is doing the odd pop/top40 gig (like I have for a benefit at the end of the month), and in that case I end up playing more of those files. My concern also goes for the workin’ dj’s who do have big AAC libraries, because they are going to get nailed some evening.
You (and others) are saying this happens to mp3s on occasion too? Haven’t experienced that yet…
I think I’m pissed more about the lack of response from NI more than the bug itself.
have experienced “weird” things with reverb and delay before the update but not anymore.
Funny cracking sounds too but I am now using bomes and loobe and can not tell you if it was due to the hotfix or the use of loopbe and bomes that I got rid of the sounds.
@ Zac: I have experinced no problems with my files at all.
What you have done for me is made me extremely nervous about using m4a files - kicking them out of my playlist for the time being…
