Traktor Dj (ipad) Update thread, discuss…

Well we have had traktor dj for almost 2 months and we just received our first update.

What’s New in Version 1.1.0

  • Improved keylock algorithm for enhanced time-stretching
  • External mixer mode (send individual deck outputs to a stereo out on an interface)
  • First time sync options (checks for existing Dropbox folder when enabling metadata sync)
  • Hot cue behavior for stopped deck is now CUE instead of CUP

some much needed improvement, but still a ways off.

-we definitely need a better settings menu with more options.
-maybe more efx
-different pages with mixer and bigger xy pads

your thoughts? if your even still using the app…

Also independent cue to the iPad headphone output.

yes definitely

Dropbox and Wi Drive for storage. I don’t expect to stream tunes from either, but the ability to import would be nice.

Not in this version. I have requested Dropbox support but that won’t allow metadata to be transfered so I’m not sure it will be high on priority just yet.

does this mean i can use a class complaint soundcard (behringer uca222) for my main outs and cue through headphones? I just updated the app and gave it a quick poke around but could not find this feature

Output 1 & 2 = Master
Output 3 & 4 = Headphone Cue on iPad.

Boom..!

although it doesn’t have that functionality yet… does it???

I’m not at home so I’m just thinking out loud to be honest.

yep… still not seeing this. I have my class complaint sound card plugged in via the camera connection kit, and while this does output my main out, i cannot get my headphone cue to work out of the ipad out simultaneously. In fact, i dont even see the option to select outputs 1&2 or 3&4.

Was really hoping this update addressed this issue, maybe i’m just not seeing it?

I would love to see an indicator that shows which tracks I have already played. With too many tracks, its hard to remember which ones you’ve played and which one’s you haven’t.

Although I have it installed, I don’t use it. I’m holding out for iCloud/iTunes match support and better track prep capabilities. I’m less concerned about the performance aspect.

Is it working pretty nicely? I haven’t even tried it out…

I too would like to see an option to send the master audio through the iPad 30 pin connector and monitor cueing through the headphone socket. Or better yet I would like to see a new NI Audio 2 that is class compliant and can also charge the iPad while in use. In my opinion the NI Audio 6 is too big, heavy and expensive to use as a dedicated Traktor DJ audio interface.

I would also like to see MIDI controller capabilities and more Traktor Pro 2 FX.

+1 Also interested, the UCA222 is stupid cheap and would be great fun with the iPad

i received my replacement TA6 for my dead A4DJ yesterday … And this morning I wake up to an update!
Tried the External Mixer Mode, works great! Almost tempted to take it to my gig tomorrow night as extra decks to see how it sounds :tada:

The uca is a 2 out card, so you’d gain nothing apart from the 2 rca inputs.
I don’t believe you can use the headphone jack on ios when a class compliant audio interface is connected to the device. You have to use the interface’s outs…

Just to clear this one up… I did get it right.

If your soundcard has 2 Stereo outputs, you need to plug the headphones into the iPad before starting TDJ. This will enable the iPad headphone output to be used for the monitor channel. This is a workaround and will work better in the next version.

Unfortunately this means that the single stereo Behringer uca222 does not allow you to monitor via the iPad.

Your soundcard needs 2 stereo outputs for this feature.

I guess you can hide the soundcard now and monitor from the iPad, even use the soundcard to angle the ipad against..?

hmm i know the audio 8 isn’t supported but im gonna give it a shot through a hub.

Got nothing to do with power mate. The Audio 8 does not have a xmos microcontroller and is not, and cannot be made Class Compliant. You can hook it up the the National Grid, power is not the issue.

Shame, but when NI first made it around 7 years ago, iPads were not even a twinkle in Apples eye.
