Traktor Pro 1.2.7 or Traktor 2.x

I love TP2 but wish it had the stability of 1.2.7

Nothing extremely useful in TP2 for me, so I’m still with 1.2.7 even though I bought the update.

One annoyance is that they’ve broken Snap in 2.1.x when no beatgrids are present: Previously, you could easily Snap loop in/out points and cues to the nearest transient to the playhead, which helps a lot when playing music with live drums (funk, disco, etc.). Now, Snap only works properly with a beatgrid in place, and behaves erratically without a beatgrid (may snap to a random location with no transient). (NI Support’s response: Snap isn’t supposed to work without a beatgrid - but it did before!)

Also, I can’t for the life of me figure out why it’s no longer possible to jump by bar count with the mouse in the whole waveform view. I sometimes use this for seamlessly skipping parts of tracks, and often to quickly set up a live cue point right before the phrase transition, ie. the actual mix point.

One good thing about the new waveforms - they happened to fix one of the most annoying bugs in 1.2.7, namely that tracks with no beatgrids would fail to show transients in parts of waveforms, even though they were detected and could be snapped to.

All in all, the T2 workflow seems even more focused on beatgrids and track prep before a gig. Understandable for the majority, perhaps, and unfortunately it’s the direction where everyone is going. On the Itch side, you can’t even disable beatgrids right now on 4-channel controllers…

i’m also wondering if there’s actually any real difference. does tp2 just require more beatgridding and re-gridding? also, the two midifighters i’ve got didn’t seem to interact very well with it. they seemed laggier in it, and were acting weird. cue points seem to behave differently in tp2 or maybe i missed something?
