:stuck_out_tongue:

It’s free for S4 owners and a pretty good entry price for DVS.

Yesss. I was worried! Just ordered my S4 yesterday, and THEN Pro 2 gets dropped. Beautiful. Thanks!

Whooo…etc

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I just read that on the forums

Yes, it’s definitely ā€œniceā€ of NI to give existing S4 owners a free upgrade to version 2. I’d be very upset if that wasn’t the case.

As far as timecode support goes (not that I really care about it as I own SL3 just for that), I think NI have probably confused the hell out of quite a few people. There will definitely be some angry customers calling support…

From Traktor Kontrol S4 FAQ:
Q: Does TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 also allow external timecode control through turntables and CD decks? Does it work with the TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO / DUO software?

A: TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 will not support external timecode control directly after its release, neither with the included software nor in combination with TRAKTOR SCRATCH PRO/DUO. But external timecode control will be enabled in TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 through a software upgrade in the near future.
The wording kind of makes you think you might be getting the upgrade for free.

From Traktor Comparison Chart:
* S4 users can buy the TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 SCRATCH UPGRADE to add timecode control.

** TRAKTOR KONTROL S4 currently ships with the special TRAKTOR PRO S4 software. All S4 users will receive their free upgrade to TRAKTOR PRO 2 automatically at release.
Nope, S4 owners, you’ll have to BUY the upgrade.

From Traktor Scratch Pro 2 Pricing Page:

Yup, you’ll definitely have to buy it and the price is $139/129€

This has been discussed and I think it all hinges on the fact that they used the word upgrade instead of update. Upgrade implies paid, whereas update implies free.

So excited! Nothing ground breaking really for us S4 users but I really like the ability to zoom right in on waveforms and the option of having decks A & B as sample decks.
Nice looking new fx, and obviously uber cool colored waveforms.

I’m totally psyched. Can’t wait for 4.1.11!

Yes, having worked in the software industry for a number of years, I understand the difference between the ā€œupgradeā€ and ā€œupdateā€ very clearly, but I also know how outsiders can easily confuse the two and expect things that will just not happen to their great disappointment. In any case, I’m quite happy with my free upgrade to Traktor Pro 2

I held off getting the S4 until they announced the DVS support, looks like this is it. Now I wonder if they will offer an S4 SCRATCH package, that’s basically S4 + SCRATCH PRO + control vinyls in one package. Not that it would make a difference (except maybe in price), but it looks like that would be the NI way to confuse people with lots of options

in stores April 1st… this better not be an April Fools

I’m glad I didn’t jump on the S4 - the scratch update is cheaper that way.

NI may have fucked me over with K7 (because I bought the K6 upgrade like a stupid gullible fuck), but I just realized that after 3,5 years, my tsp2 setup will have cost me ~310 EUR in total (counting TS upgrade for certified mixers, the TSP upgrade and the TSP2 upgrade - not counting all the control vinyl I bought). that is tolerable.

other than that, I have to ask my usual question: is there a sensible reason to discuss software that no one has had proper hands-on experience with because isn’t even out yet?

anyone know what the special means traktor scratch pro hardware upgrade
special offer 449 dollar. Is this the whole traktor scratch pro package? s10 is included but the rest, Cd’s, vinyl, cables?

Do you have to own traktor scratch pro or with the s4 are we seen as up graders?

Anyhow free upgrade for owners with scratch pro and s4.

So what would you do, buy second hand scratch pro package or go for the new audio 10. Not sure if i ever need it future wise. I’m still new with traktor, but don’t want to invest double. Love my s4, but think a back up system could be wise got two denon 3700’s and a mixer.

So definitely want a upgrade to scratch pro for my s4, but might want to do more with ableton and maschine in the future.

wich soundcard would you choose 10 or 8:confused:.

Thanx

Really loving the free for S4 thing!

w00t!

Wom womp womp! This is so sick ass!

Like you all I am stoked about the update to the S4 software.

Tickled about some new Fx to play with too.

Did anyone see keylock for the sample decks?
Edit: just looked at the software pics at NI, and It doesn’t look like it’s there :disappointed:

Sorry, just one w00t more:
w00t!

i’m loving the new waveform resolution (future X-Ray user here)

HELL YEAH! I have TSP and the S4 so it was looking like I would have to pay $70 but because I am a good customer I get it for free. Nice.

is this true? I was under the impression that the S4 would eventually have timecode capability. In other words, since S4 owners get the TPRo2 update for free, all they would have to buy later is the timecode vinyls themselves, since the S4 would be the audio interface. Am I wrong here (never used DVS before)?

EDIT: Ok, i see the upgrade to scratch if you have the S4 is $140. That will cover the software + timecode then, I suppose.
