Traktor s4 timecode speculations

Traktor s4 timecode speculations

So, this feature is posted on the product page for the S4 so it needs to be coming soon. Here are my guesses as to how NI will implement it.

  1. They will allow for a free patch when they release the new traktor.

  2. They will make us pay for the copy of traktor SCRATCH pro 2 in order to get timecode input.

  3. Won’t get timecode support unless you buy a soundcard that is compatible.
Worst and most expensive option IMO.

So what do you guys think is going to happen with this?

Hopefully 1, we already paid enough. maybe we get merged with regular pro and s4 version was just made to bring samplers earlier (not likely)

I would discard 3, why would they put phono inputs in the controller otherwise since they announced future compatibility since day 1?

The soundcard inside the S4 is already enough to run timecode.

Buying a TSPro license would be too expensive.

On the other hand, every ‘Scratch’ license costs NI money. So I reckon there will be a small charge to cover it.

Timecode support for S4 will be released once the new Traktor is also released. Free of charge.

New traktor version will still continue to work with older audio card and give most, see all new features… paid update.

The new audio card will just provide more features… which? I don’t know, but while we speculate…

  1. 2 USB Ports
  2. Some kind of internal MIDI and/or audio routing when you deal with 2 computers and/or 2 software.

Finger crossed for a “The Bridge” feature alike with Maschine in 2011.

NI have already stated that they don’t know if/how much they are going to charge.

Yeah I know, we speculate on this 10th birthday

i say free upgrade for S4 to new Traktor Pro version, but if you want timecode they’re gonna charge. Kinda like going from TP to TSP even if you somehow have an audio 8.

Hopefully timecode vinyl costing ridiculously high amounts will be enough of a charge and we get bumped to TSP 2 . but doubtful.

I just know that if they end up making ppl pay for full cost TSP 2 then there will be alot of upset NI fans. From the looks of it the s4 software will do about 80% of what TSP 2 will do -colored waveforms and -timecode.

We will see how all of this pans out. I own T3, TS, TP, TSP & TS4, and I don’t mind paying for the next version.

My bets on paid upgrade unless you already own TSP.

I have a hard time believing S4 won’t be receiving colored waveforms. Scratch Pro 2 and S4 are literally the same program. It’s been stated that the S4 is getting Timecode capability. I’ll be frustrated if the S4 doesn’t get Timecode functionality the moment Scratch Pro 2 is released. But we will only be waiting a couple more days to find out. I believe Scratchworx said in there article that all will be revealed on Feb 1st

I’d say - TRUE. If you already own a scratch license, it’s free

TRUE

FALSE! Instead, an extra pair of I/O, which was somewhat foreseeable, considering the loop recorder.

Yet to come for later in 2011. At least it is on the Maschine-On-Record thread, so the “in 2011” still counts

Not bad!

Lets continue the T2 discussion in this thread:
