UK Macbook Pro 13". Any deals..?

UK Macbook Pro 13". Any deals..?

Ok guys its time to pull the trigger on a new work horse.
Im looking for a brand new MBP 13". Preferably with a 750HD but 500 is fine, ill just upgrade.

I know a new range is coming and I have ZERO interest in anything that they will offer, i’m more interested in a cheaper end-of-line model cus it’s just for weekly gigs with Traktor, nothing else.

I’ve seen some on eBay for £847 which is £150 cheaper than the Apple Store.

Has to be 100% brand new with standard 1 year AppleCare to be upgraded after 12 months.

Anyone have any insights. I know a few guys on here either work for Apple or have contacts.

Not interested in:
Second Hand.
Ex-Demo/Display.
Your Mac.

Only thing i can think of is buying from the refurbed area of the apple store, but im not sure you get a full years warranty with them.

Its a shame you just missed best buy stores closing down they sold off all there macbooks and imacs really cheap, and i had just bought a new macbook pro from them a week before lol.

My brother got a new MBP 13" and he paid £800 or something for it from an ebay seller,it was brand new i will ask him for the details.

I thought best buy was an american thing? never seen them anywhere in scotland anyway >.<

Yeah im thinking that theres gonna be some mega deals on eBay as we get close to the new release date.
My problem is (should of mentioned this in my OP), I HAVE to buy before April 1st, because its the end of the Tax Year and I need the purchase to show on my 2011/12 accounts rather than my 2012/13 accounts.

Let me know what ya bro says please Tommy.

Refurb is not what i want. Im really picky with what i buy and as its gonna get really hammered i need AppleCare even though i have good house insurance and specialist DJ insurance i value AppleCare too much not to have it. Its saved my bacon twice before.

Yeah just looked on Best Buy and its all in Dollars so i guess the MBP will be a US version and need a US/UK plug convertor.

£901 for a 13" with a 750GB HD.

you guys never heard of best buy in the uk?

They had 11 stores in the uk and planned to open 200 (one was in liverpool) huge they was,but they was not making enough money so they clsoed down all the stores.but the stores were incredible.

@karlos yeah dont worry the one he bought was brand new not a refurbish model" so will get a contact for you

Actually now you mention it i think i know a guy that worked for Best Buy in Liverpool hah.

Yeah, please Tommy, let me know cheers man.

I dont have applecare :disappointed: i didnt know you couldnt buy it after your year was out, and when it came to the end of the year i didnt have the £200 odd to buy it :disappointed:

Yeah it has to be bought before the 1 Year complimentary runs out. I was on holiday when mine ran out a few years ago and i tried getting it 5 days after it ran out and they refused.

Yes you get all the benefits of a brand new machine, same warranty, applecare if you wish + the comfort in knowing the machine was properly checked out individually by local apple techs rather than China’s QC dept

I’ve always bought refurb rather than new, I got one for my previous boss (17’ MBP) for a $700 saving :open_mouth:

Just look at Apple Refurbs on their site and the only 13" is out of stock.

Just had an email from my fiance who works in the software licensing dept at a University and she can get me edu discount which works out the same as the Refurb price so i might go with that and upgrade the HD to 750.

Anyone want to buy a brand new 500GB 5400 HD. I’ll format it so its blank and ready to install or leave it with Lion on it ready to register (i think)

I got 3 years’ apple care for £48 cos I bought my MBP on the student deal (15% off and a free iPod touch as well). Thinking if I can scrape together enough it might be worth replacing it before I finish Uni in summer…

Yeah my fiance just told me that edu applecare is called ‘HE’ so im not sure it would cover me as im not actually a student.
The £48 3yr AppleCare is a steal.

confused now :disappointed:

The mrs bought ours as she’s a student. Went down to the apple store with her and they set it all up in my name even though she’s the student.

Hmm, i’ll look into it.

Student discount is the best way to go, even though I work for a re-seller and service provider we can’t get anywhere near they’re discount! (mad I know!)

I was looking at the ones on eBay a few weeks ago before I bought a new one, a lot have US English keyboards, with the different shaped return key, could be pain but for the saving you maybe able to deal with it, or it could be a pain if you use Traktor keyboard covers

What do you need to prove your a student? just a student card?
If so my brothers going to uni after the summer, i wouldnt mind getting a new iMac

sorry to report back a bit late karlos but my brother contacted the seller and he no longer works for apple so has stopped selling the macbooks.
