UK Trip

UK Trip

hey guys

me and my best friend are planning a trip to the UK from the end of march till the days either side of Easter.
can some of u give us some tips for some nice clubs?

thanks for any reply.

Where are you going in the UK? London I’m betting? Only club worth mentioning i’ve been too in London was Fabric, which was huuuuuuuuuuuge.

If you had come earlier you could have gone to the warehouse projects in Manchester. Which had a few months of totally insanely good lineups for all genres. But that finished for it’s “season” in early January.

I’m from Brighton which is about 50 minutes south of London by the sea. We have a shit load of clubs and bars but only a couple of them are any good, Audio and Digital being the best 2 I think.

Depends on what music your after
but for the house side of things
Pacha
MOS
Club 54

to be honest check out some of the DJ websites most of those have an events forum where people post up going on

have fun in London though!

Plastic People and YoYo are pretty good clubs if you’re going to be in London…

Warehouse Projects is back up at Easter. Always good for a nite out despite a lot samey shit like Erol Alkan & Friends on repeat.

El Diablos in Manchester is excellent. Truly excellent.
Also if your up here (North West) you should catch Mr Scruff.

What kind of music are you into ?

we are a couple of days in london and brighton. my friend mentioned digital would be the best in Brighton as mr.nicklebe said.
our plan is to stay 3 days at london and 3 in Brighton and we are looking for house, progressive house and electro!

Check these out also for events.

You’ll only be here for one weekend, so check out

www.dontstayin.com

for week night events in Brighton/London.

Fabric on a Sunday night is pretty good for Prog/Minimal type stuff.

Dont Stay In is a good site for the whole country.

Good music venues in Brighton are Audio, Digital and Concorde 2. Check there websites for the dates your down here, there’s normally something big on Weds - Sat.

In London the big famous 2 I would recommend are Fabric and Matter. I would say everything depends on your dates though.

Awesome that you’re coming to Brighton!

Check out http://www.viewbrighton.co.uk/listings/club-listings-club.html for club night listing for most of Brightons clubs.

Usually Digital has some sort of dance music on saturdays from different DJ’s sometimes famous sometimes not. Most of the time it seems to be Electro House in my experience.

Audio is free on saturdays and has different DJs every time too. It seems to be completely different every time. Sometimes banging house, sometimes minimal, sometimes some weird indie dance experimental stuff.

There’s a quite new club on the beach too called ‘LIFE’ which has an electro/house/dance night on fridays. It plays really good music but isn’t always the busiest venue.

im surprised no one has mentioned the honey club in brighton. quality. digital is also top notch.
ministry in london is brilliant.

gone downhill a bit for some areas/regions :disappointed:

Hi there,

Personally I’d recommend Concorde2 depending on the night they have on. Great venue for gigs and club nights. If you can get to a Positive Sound System gig (they are usually at Concorde but they might be elsewhere) then you’ll be spoilt for quality progressive/tech/funky/minimal/whatever and a decent (proper party) atmosphere. Similarly look out for Playroom - have had some great times at their parties too.

If you want something smaller with more of an underground feel then downstairs at the Globe is a good place to go for those in the know - a good selection of quality music (on the groovier side of house/a bit of old school disco thrown in). Check out their website - http://gobangbrighton.blogspot.com - for more info.

Also pop into the Fishbowl pub (stays open v late) and see what is going on there - last time I popped in (on a Thursday) Return of The Funky Man - aka Justin if I remember rightly - was there mixing up a storm. Great tunes and some nice scratching to boot.

If you can, then time your trip to the Easter Bank Holiday weekend - as well as decent line-ups on the Friday and Saturday there’s always something decent organised for the Sunday afternoon/night to take advantage of the Bank Holiday Monday (usually De Puta Madre who may take over the Coalition or the Karma Bar in the Brighton Marina - again check the web for details). Http://www.whatson.brighton.com is a good place to start.

While in Brighton, also -

Check out some comedy at Komedia
Drink in the Hampton (Upper North Street - up the hill from centre of town, don’t get confused with North Street)
Drink in The Fortune of War (seafront - iconic)
Eat at Bills (in the North Laine part of town - the North Laine is the best bit of town for independent stores)
Have Breakfast at Billie’s (corner of Hampton Place/Montpelier Terrace - their hashes are legendary. A few doors down from the Hampton so you could pop in there afterwards for a pint quite happily).

By no means an exhaustive list

Sorry I can’t be there to show you round but am now in NZ  And missing Brighton just a little bit more now that I’ve typed all that - ah for the good old days (not so long ago - I only left end of November!)

Have fun and stay safe - Brighton is a party town but remember to keep your wits about you. Whatever you do don’t go anywhere near West Street and any of the bars and clubs there - that part of town the best advert for binge-drinking and alcohol-related violence there is.

Make sure you report back here to let us know how it went

Q

true story on west street. can be nasty. also stay out of the laines at night, ive seen many fights happen in there and since it usually is pretty quiet, it usually isnt broken up.
another place that is great for breakfast is kensingtons on kensington st. great place.

West street isn’t that bad. There are so many police on that road at night that anyone who tries anything gets jumped on by a load of police men waiting in their police van :stuck_out_tongue:

The market diner is great for late night food. It opens at something like 9pm and closes at sometime around 7am i think  Great for post club munchies, they serve total grease food. AWESOME! It’s behind the University of Brighton if you’re hungry.

oh yeah, market. there are also several great kebab shops as well. and china china is great.
