VCI-100: No Power
Hey Ya’ll.
So I used my VCI-100 as normal the other night at home. No issues.
Unplugged it and put it away.
Next morning, hooked it up…no power.
None whats so ever.
Opened her up and can not see anything blatantly wrong. No wires fried…Green board is all fine. No dry spots.
Everything seems 100%.
I tried all my USB cables…no dice.
Any ideas?
Cheers!
This is going to sound stupid, but I assume you’ve checked the power switch is set to USB power?
Yes, but thanks for offering something!
I think the switch could possibly be cooked.
Going to take it to my Electrical Knowing mate over the weekend…maybe he can check it for me.
BLEAK!
try loading it in boot mode or LED test mode and see if you get anything.
Do you have a regular power cable you can plug into it? That would tell you if it was USB related.
did you plug it in once it was opened?

I tried it all expect the Power Supply…I don;t have one.
Been using USB all the way.
Yes, I tested once it was open…but was VERY careful not to have anything touching etc.
I am pretty good with Electronics etc.

Did you try it on a different computer? That would also verify that what youre plugging into is also ok.
You should be able to get a power supply that would work for fairly cheap. I’m not sure of the exact specs, but one of those with the different tips and you can switch around polarity would probably work.
From the Vestax site. Polarity may be marked near the plug in on the VCI

Am sure you will fix it sends out positive vibes
What will you do if you can’t? Get another VCI Arcade or switch up.
Just got me thinking, I’m not sure what i’d do, be a fairly tough call but I know I’d be devastated if I lost my VCI Arcade now.
It feels kind of unique cause I did it myself but it’s kind of old technology…
I got no interest in an S4 or any other controller out there at the moment either…

Well…I still have my APC40…but the VCI100 is a MAJOR part of my full setup…and i need it for my 4 deck style i have now developed for myself.
I dunno…I will get it checked out by my mate…to see if he can find fault.
All looks FINE!
So i am hoping its just the power switch.
BOOOO…I love you VCI!!!
If its not fixable…I might just get a mixer…
I will keep it tho…seeing as they are discontinued…it is DEFINITELY a collectors item…
I’m assuming you did a reboot.
Sorry had to ask, there’s people I work with that think shutting the lid on the mac books is rebooting.
HAHA this made me laugh. Reminds me of all the phone calls i get from my dad when he has issues with his PC!!
Me - Is it turned on?
Mr Cooper Snr - No
Me - There is your problem then!!
