VCI-300+Traktor Pro - Setup Jog Wheel & LED List

VCI-300+Traktor Pro - Setup Jog Wheel & LED List

I couldn´t find the answer in the forum so i got to dig it out myself:

With the use of one Modifier per Jog Wheel it is possible to have a Itch like way of using the Jog Wheel. The only drawback is that you have to press the “platter” if you want to “scratch” when you are not playing.

  1. Add “Modifier #1” and assign it to the left “platter-press” (B5) with mode Button & Hold, Set Value=1
  2. Add “Scratch On” and assign it to the left “platter-press” (B5) with mode Button & Hold
  3. Add “Scratch” and assign it to the left Jog Wheel (CC60 + CC02) with relative mode and Mod#1 Condition 1
  4. Add “Tempo Bend (Stepless)” and assign it to the left Jog Wheel (CC60 + CC02) with relative mode and Mod#1 Condition 0

Repeat the same for the right Jog Wheel with Modifier #2.

This Setup is pretty simple, you may adjust the sensibility to your need. The most important part for me was: When the Deck is playing i may stop it by pressing the platter and start it again by releasing it.

Using Asio4All with a buffer size of 64 and no latency compensation makes it almost feel like Itch.

Also here is a List of the LED´s Midi Map (You have to add one octave to the notes, as traktor numbers Midi Notes differently from Max/Msp):

Hope this helps some people, who had the same first shock with this great piece of equipment.

When somebody is interested for a .tsi that is setup for using an external mixer with traktor&VCI-300 just pn me.

As requested by xavierdj here is my mapping.
It is only for the left Jog Wheel of the VCI300, as i don´t use traktor. I made this to test if it is possible to use the VCI300 with Traktor. (I can´t stand ITCH!)
Currently I´m using the VCI300 with ableton live + “max for live”. I also have a max patch to remote control the tempo “dj like” from the VCI300. I´m working on this currently, so if anybody else here is using ableton for live DJing with VCI300 i could share my work with him/her.

Vfx-1?

Do you know of a similar LED note list for the VFX-1? Or if not how did you find out the notes for the 300?

I found those simply by trial & error.
I have max for live and just tried every note, took me like 5min. to test 127 notes and write the results into an excel file.
I don´t have VFX1 unit, so sorry…

hey sanosdole… i’m interested in using the vci 300 with ableton…

Could you make a full VCI-300 and Traktor Mapper ??

Sorry but i returned the vci 300. It is great hardware with miserable sw support. I use an apc 40 now.

no worries Sansdole…)

apc 40 perfect for ableton!! hows it?? and wat soundcard u use??

Apc is great. There are also some python scripts that do some great stuff. I use the focusrite saffire, as it is usb powered and has gain control for the inputs.

Look here for the “latest” (June/July 2010) VCI-300 TSI for Traktor pro:
