VCI Jog Wheel bass exposure fixes

VCI Jog Wheel bass exposure fixes

OK - So my friend who is the DJ at our most important hotel disco/club, came home and fell in love with the VCI-100 after playing with it, etc.

So he gave me the opportunity of being an invited DJ last night at the club.
I had my gear ready in no time… and at peak time, he announced the “invited DJ” of the night…

I started with some nice intros… and then.. when the tight, deep bass started… it was chaos! The bass had my music start to jump, Pitch getting off, couldn’t sync, etc.

Lucky for me.. we always have the second set of Pioneer’s ready just in case…
so I quickly enabled a freeze effect.. and hit “play” in the CDJ.

I know and have read about the bass issue with the VCI, I also turned the plates off, etc. Question arises… what have you done to prevent this? (Besides turning off the plates) If I get the VCI in a cushioned flight-case..can I prevent this? Any other suggestions?

Ean talks about setting the VCI on top of a pad of foam on top of the decks. Not only does this protect the decks from getting damaged by your equipment, it has the side effect of insulating your controller from vibration.

I had the same problem with my vci…I put the sucker in a ata style case (marathon) and problem solved! Where i play they have 8 bass bottoms and they are about 5 feet away.

You NEED the foam padding when you’re playing. Absolutely essential.

Awesome tips guys !

Not exactly ideal for mobility but Ean is using a big arse brick in this performance here -

Ha, industrial style!

Thanks for the tips guys! I am on my way to pick one in the next few minutes.
I have never been so embarrassed in my life! :disappointed:

JesC - My friend notified me the disco/club has 8 dual subs! I really had no idea… since even though it is a large club, I see no reason to those.. and I only saw 4 of them. :disappointed:

P.D - VCI+ATA Flight case = Revenge!!! lol :stuck_out_tongue:

Got a link to the case?

Flaekiface… here you go

http://www.marathonpro.com/marathonmaluc.html

and this is the place i play @ http://www.ambiente-la.com/

Wait, could someone explain this problem? The vibration does what to the VCI?

the vibration on makes the internals on the vci trigger the pitch +/- and makes traktor go ape sh!t.

Wow! Never knew that.

Thanks, I’ll be prepared now!

EDIT: Maybe open up your VCI (super easy) and add some foam or something there too so everything is snug

@ JesC: Thanks for the link

I dont think that would do much good, since the external jogwheels would still be very much effected by the virbrations.

I think that we need a DJTT article talking about the vibration problems on the unit and how to counter them

[/quote]…listed from most economical to ridiculously priced?

or use one of them freefloat things

Hmm I wonder what exactly Ean used in that video. That seems more usable and doable for me than a flight case.

Its a huge concrete brick i am pretty sure

If u were to look under Ean’s VCI, that BRICK contained the DJ TT Ten Commandments. And it reads as follows…

I.
I am the VCI-100 your God: you shall not have strange Gods before me!

II.
You shall not take the name of the VCI-100 your God in vain!

III.
Remember to keep holy the VCI-100 Day!

IV.
Honor your father and your mother!

V.
You shall not kill* (except if its at the club!)

VI.
You shall not commit adultery!

VII.
You shall not steal software!

VIII.
You shall not bear false witness against your fellow DJ!

IX.
You shall not covet your fellow DJs wife!

X.
You shall not covet your fellow DJ’s goods!

But yeah that was a huge brick, looks like something that came out of a church.
