VST's in Traktor?

VST’s in Traktor?

Yay or nay? Now or ever?

maybe with traktor 2’s live input function? it would seem doable to have a daw setup to route through the channel you have assigned as live input… but thats just a guess

I really dont understand why anyone would ever need vst’s in traktor, if you wanna do sets with that kind of stuff just use ableton

but with ableton you lack the flexibility that traktor offers

You can already do this with the current version of Traktor Pro. I’ve already got it running on the same laptop and synced up.

?

I use Ableton, but until it has PROPER vinyl control over clips (NOT The Bridge) it’s just not working for me. I NEED turntables and a mixer for playing out - that’s how I enjoy DJ’ing.

Interesting…

If T2 syncs it’s own beat-sync’d effects to the timecode vinyl (the track would have to be beat-gridded first, I suppose), I can’t see why T2 COULDN’T send the tempo to Ableton.

TBH - Traktor 2, beat-sync’d with Live would be my dream set-up.

Dude, go google “ms pinky”

Don’t you mean with traktor you lack the flexibility that ableton offers?

i read on this thread traktor 2 has live input.does that mean i can add an efx 1000 whilst in internal mode?.

probably not but thought id ask?

just use jack and ableton/traktor
i easily put vst effects on a traktor channel.

While using control vinyl? That’s the big question…

It’s all about the control vinyl…

Sure, why not? You’re still routing audio, be it in internal or external mode

But you need to get Ableton’s master tempo to sync to the tempo of the track being played on T2 control vinyl. Otherwise beat sync’d effects won’t work. (I’m thinking of Beat Repeat here).

It’s easy to sync Ableton to any software that transmits midi tempo… But is it as easy when the software that you’re trying to sync to Ableton takes it’s tempo from control vinyl?

Best. Link. Ever.

But again - you’ve got the problem of Ableton’s MASTER TEMPO not sync’ing up with the Ms. Pinky vinyl controller audio.

Ms. Pinky is basically a VST that sit’s on a track (or multiple tracks - great for 2 or 4 turntables!) in Live, and runs independently of Live’s master tempo. Beat repeat won’t work unless Lives Master tempo and the Ms. Pinky vinyl tempo are in sync.

I’ve seen Shiftee using a Beat masher on Vinyl controlled audio in Traktor - so that means that Traktors master tempo (ie - the tempo that FX run at) is linked to the vinyl controlled tempo.

I can’t seem to get a straight answer on whether or not this (Traktor) master tempo can be transmitted to Live, to sync Live to the Traktor VINYL TEMPO?

Uh. Sorta. Go open traktor scratch now and open the metronome bit and see how it react to you changing the speed of your decks and cueing and such. It doesn’t quite stay the same but it sorta follows it around. I guess it’d work but I certainly wouldn’t want to rely on it.

I don’t see what the issue with the bridge is though.

so it sounds to me like you just want to use ableton as a host for a beatmasher…

why not use traktor’s built in beatmasher?

I’m just using Live’s Beat Repeat as an example of a beat sync’d effect. There are loads of great beat sync’d VST’s out there, and I’d love to be able to use 'em on tunes that are being played by control vinyl.

Live’s routing (and ESPECIALLY dummy clips) would be an amazing addition to a control vinyl set-up.

i have jet to find a way to be as spontaneous in terms of track selection in ableton as i can be in traktor for e.g.. In almost all other factors that matter for me ableton is more flexible.

@topic:

the midclock data in traktor comes from the master deck, am i right? so you could use all your vst’s in sync with the master deck, dvs controlled or not.

If you were to be doing scratches and whatnot, then unlatch the master clock from
decks and use internal time. Whatever Traktor’s clock is at Abletons will sync to.
If you have Traktor set to auto, whatever has the most solid clock will be the output.
I am assuming you know how to sync Ableton to Traktor with the Traktor Virtual Output.
I run Ableton’s clock input from Traktor at -10.4 ms i add .6 ms of compensation to get a nice round 11ms, my 48000khz at 512 sample provides 5.2 ms of latency, i double this so the audio back in from external synths is on time.
