Always changing and no matter what I have I will always wonder how something else would be. I really liked my DNX1600 and 2 X1 setup, but wasn’t a big fan of the FX on that mixer so I sold it and went back to all midi with an APC-40 and an X1. After three or four months with the APC I’ve got it mapped to something that I’ve really come to like working with. Of course my mapping isn’t like many others out there that I’ve seen. There’s some things I don’t like about the APC so it’ll go soon, but I don’t know what will replace it. Maybe a Xone 92, X1 and F1. The DB4 or 2 maybe. This new Behringer CMD series is interesting, the VCI-400 maybe although I’ve come to really like not having jogs. I’ve even thought about the Twitch, but don’t really think it’s for me. I’ve also thought about an Ecler 3 channel mixer because that’s all I really need with two sample decks.
photojojo i have a tip just buy a Midi Fighter 3D, Traktor kontrol S4 and two rokit rp5g2. thats everything you need, it launches premapped fx and the S4 is good for al the basic stuff
Agreed. A lot of the fun is playing with toys…another big piece is realizing how similar I sound on different setups. They’re easily 3 & 4 for me (behind music and a fun party).
So…current dream…
DJ:
3x Techncs SL-1210 M5G
2x CDJ-2000
Elektron Octatrack
A&H Xone:V6
Studio:
Current Mac Pro
16GB Ram (1 stick…easier to upgrade)
480 GB Mercury Accelsior (PCIe SSD) (boot/system)
4TB OWC Mercury Rack Pro RAID devices (long term storage)
For DJing:
Change out my Stanton turntables for pair of Pioneer CDJ’s (1000MK3 or 2000) or Denon SC3900. I’m always cleaning my vinyl TT’s so think I would move to cd. But if I stuck with vinyl, then move up to some Technics.
Other than that, I’m happy with my current: older MBP, Ecler NUO4, Traktor Kontrol X1 and F1.
For Production:
list would be too long of current and future wants.
I’m all over that! 2x Technics 1210’s, a mixer and a stack of deep n souful house and I’m a happy bunny! (But the new toys are nice to play with though!!!)
Ideally I’d have an A&H 92, 2 Technics and a stack of vinyl and nothing else, maybe an RMX-1000. more realistic set-up is a 92, 2 technics with an X1 and TSP2. cant afford all the vinyl I’d like, though planning on starting building my collection. maybe some CDJ’s as well so i’d just have a full set-up.
for production I’d love an 808, 909, 303, Korg M1, maybe an Alesis Andromeda and a Monopoly. I’d quite like some out-board compressors and of course some monitors, maybe some Genelecs. Apogee Duet soundcard would be lovely too, and an APK61 to control my software, mainly because i really want something to play pads with for a more human feeling drum.
4midiloop, Maschine Mikro and an F1. Obviously running on a laptop with an TP2.
Doesn’t take much to make me happy ans still be able to perform the way I’d want to be able to.
Dream Studio set up,
New Mac Pro
Ableton
Maschine
Arturia V Collection
Akai MPK88
Duet 2 Soundcard
Focal Twin6 monitos plus CMS Sub
Waves Complete X (whatever the latest version is)
And done. This is just for producing. Again, simple, efficient but high quality.
