If you have them on vinyl the best bet is to rip them. Or maybe look for CDs that have the tracks on then you can rip a decent digital copy of the track from the cd?
What’s the issues with ripping? What are your main issues there? Maybe getting help with that will be better for you?
The issue with ripping from vinyl are - time, quality, reliability.
It takes a great amount of effort to rip a vinyl track to a very high quality. Even then, i find that it is not always reliable (i’m talking Traktor beatgrids, loops etc.)
If I could find a good quality mp3 version of the full track (release, not a rip) then I am happy to spend money on it.
I’d check out compilations from Itunes… like http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/state-trance-classics-vol./id473901023 has some of what you’re looking for. When you buy the compilation the songs are much cheaper than 99c. I’ve heard the quality is equal to 320kbps so they should be fine for DJ’ing, though I don’t know from experience.
I’ve had fairly good results using the new iTunes Match feature in iTunes.
Pay £20 for a years subscription.
Upload all your vinyl rips & dodgy old low bit rate mp3s to the cloud.
See how many of them the iTunes store finds matches for.
Download 256 kbps AAC’s of the ones it matches.
I’ve managed to match / upgrade enough tunes to make it worthwhile.
Also, if you’ve ever downloaded any tunes from Serato’s whitelabel.net website. I’ve had quite good results matching the 32kbps audio files that play in iTunes. (High quality version’s only play in Itch or SSL). So i’ve been able to replace these with good quality AAC’s.
problem is most of the labels no longer release tracks so you can’t ask them directly… But I have had some luck on djdownload with 2000ish nu school breaks and hard trance, I don’t really like trance from that era so never looked, but the seem to have the the oldest catalogue with some gems, but most releases were vinyl only in those days and no one thought to rip them until they had noticably degraded.

the “iTunes Match” match feature sounds cheap… surely someone could just find illegal rips of tunes, upload those to itunes match and then download a legal copy?
What an absolute tune! I noticed Nick Warren has been closing his sets with it again recently, 18 yrs after its release! I think that list also contains the cheesy vocal version, please ignore that.

The dance music from the 90’s was unbelievably good. Its quite sad that it was around before the digital music explosion although the other side of that is it helps it keep that fresh, underground feel that i relate so much to the 90’s.

the 90’s was a great time for dance+trance music also when i first got into psytrance. i saw lsd by hallucinogen on your list which is a track i bought electronically not all that long ago. ofc i also have it on vinyl bloody awesome track… always reminds me of paul oakenfold’s “voyage into trance” album and him playing tunes like those at a few gigs i went to. good times… incidentally it was also that album that got me into buying vinyl and dj’ing
I’m in a similar position to you, I’ve got shedloads of vinyl (mainly House/Garage) from the 90’s and have managed to find some digital versions, mainly through CD versions on eBay and MP3’s via iTunes. I mainly buy current music through Traxsource and I’ve noticed many labels are now releasing a lot of back catalogue from the 90’s/00’s, quality is superb too. I’ve finally started to rip some vinyl but you rightly say it is painstaking.
I’ve been desperately looking for a digital version of Julius Papp & Dave Warrin - Groove Asylum EP on Nitegrooves for ages with out any luck, so making do with the vinyl rip.
I’ve recently had some luck with some classic tracks Sasha played in the early 90’s (not just him of course ) such as Meli’sa Morgan ’ Still in Love’, Shawn Christopher ‘Don’t Lose the Magic’, NY’ Finest ‘Do You Feel Me’ etc. My vinyl copies have seen better days!
I could reminisce about the 90’s all day. Paul Oakenfold was a god back in those days (nice to see he’s going back to his roots after being pretty awful for about 10years!). His ‘Goa’ essential mix still sounds amazing today, if I had to listen to that transition from the Bladerunner sample into Man With No Name - Floor Essence on repeat for the rest of my days, i’d die happy!
I was a bit young to go clubbing in the acid house days - Hacienda, Shelly’s etc, started travelling down to Gatecrasher regularly in Sheffield as a 17yr old in 1999, best club night there has ever been, nothing has ever compared to it.
Don’t get me wrong, there is still good music and good producers around today - Guy Gerber, Marco Bailey, Guy J, Noir, Maceo Plex, James Teej, Dosem, Wehbba etc.
The scene today just seems flooded with… shi*e! Don’t even get me started on dubstep, jesus wept!

classic stuff and love that tune… i have it on vinyl ofc (the dayglo mix) but had to buy that and the apogee remix on mp3. have moment of truth album on vinyl too.

there’s loads of great stuff around these days, more than there used to be i’m sure but the % of crap is way higher. used to be easy going into a record store - there was only so much they could stock i do like browsing online tho, clicking on tracks or artists i have no idea about and following the trail round till i find something i do like.
miss taking a pile of records to a booth tho, putting the headphones on and going thru them. a lot less productive than now maybe but… ah well…

This is going to sound really dumb, and I accept that……but have you considered just spinning vinyl? If it’s effects you’re after, you can run your decks through Ableton to get them…plus it’d do sampling and looping if you set it up right. And there are things like the PVDJ Grabber (if you can find one), the Octatrack, and other hardware samplers that give you straightforward looping……or the looper on the DB4.
I mean…that list would be freaking expensive, but still…the possibility is there.
+1 on how difficult it is going to be to complete that list, too much great EDM from the early 90s till about 97 or so is unbelievably difficult to find in High quality mp3 format…really should try to rip it yourself, it’s fucking dodgy with a DJ table and standard DJing needles, but doable. You really want to have a hard time try finding early Breakbeat mp3s…that’ll make you fucking insane

bloody awesome track… always reminds me of paul oakenfold’s “voyage into trance” album and him playing tunes like those at a few gigs i went to. good times… incidentally it was also that album that got me into buying vinyl and dj’ing
