And which controller would you personally prefer?

if you’ve got £699 for the mixdeck lying around then save £60 more and get an s4. that is engineered for traktor. go onto a dj store website and go through the midi controllers in your budget. in your budget however there are lots of great controllers, obviously some designed for traktor more than others. cheers

I’m getting the Mixdeck for 580 New…so I don’t have that much extra money. And also I’m a beginner DJ and I heard the VMS4 and the Mixdeck are good controllers for beginner DJs. Can you recommend which one is better between the two?

well i started on a numark mixtrack and saved my money to begin with, so i could get other stuff. the mixtrack’s mappings are fine, if a little limited. between the two i’d probably choose the mixdeck.

but the innercheapskate in me tells you that if your starting out with traktor then the simpler the better and i’d advise you to get a mixtrack. on the other hand however, you may get bored to the simplicity of the device if your quick to learn.

Did you get a look at the Reloop Jockey 3 ?
I believe it can be find under 600£

Would you do scratching, then go for mixdeck . if not a mixtrack and add a kontrolx1 n you are done.

I’d go for a Reloop over a mixtrack or mixdeck. Very solid build quality.

once you start experimenting with your own custom mappings and getting used to how they work you’ll never want to use any preset mapping again anyway…

so for me it’s more about the quality and number of controls the surface provides.

edit: if i had the cash to buy a new expensive controller i mean… for now i’m just going for cheapies with creative mappings :wink:

This talk about those other controllers being better for beginners is hogwash. Why wouldn’t a beginner want something that was made specifically 1 to 1 with the software? Do you already have a legal copy of Traktor 2? If not don’t forget to calculate that into your cost. The price of those other controller suddenly jump when you add $200 for T2.

um… no not really… it’s a fantastic product and it’s not overpriced - buy it.

i cheaped out a bit by buying a 2nd hand copy of traktor3 and then upgraded to traktor pro 2 - so it can be even less than paying the full wack.
