Who knows of some good MELODIC techno?

Who knows of some good MELODIC techno?

Hey guys, i’ve got a gig coming up soon at a little underground art/music (hipster) bar.
Personally, i’m really into dark, drum heavy techno and the deep, warehousey stuff you’d hear at Berghain or whatever. This is good closing material, but earlier in the night I feel like some groovier, more melodic stuff might be better. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Think along the lines of Christian Smith or Alexander Kowalski. I’d just go digging on Beatport, but since the people on this site have fantastic taste I figured i’d try crowdsourcing first.

Here’s some in my list since if I have any techno, it’s almost always the melodic, deep kinda stuff. Some may be primarily vinyl releases.

Jonsson/Alter (2 LP is very nice)
Julian Perez
Och
Infinite Loops
Troy Gunner
Sven Weisemann
Kassem Mosse
Omar S
Alan Fitzpatrick
Rene Audiard

Some of this may be classified as Tech House/Deep House by some, but…you know interchangable genres and stuff.

Yeah i’m not one of those sticklers for genres haha as long as it all fits together nicely…thanks this is awesome

most the releases on spilo, pirate audio might fit the bill, more funky than melodic though. Haven’t had my records with me for a few years now  but will try and remember some more labels / artists

On the flip sometimes you can find Tech House more on the Techno side which sounds like more melodic Techno. Just like I’ve found Minimal tracks that sound like Tech House or Techno that sounds Minimal or Deep House that sounds like Tech House, etc. Frankly I think some labels just put the music in a different category to get certain tracks noticed.

This may seem like shameless promotion but I literally just made an all melodic techno & prog mix if you wanna take a look.

Guys like Max Cooper, Guy Gerber, Peter Juergens are all top notch.

I used to call some old tracks by Funk d’Void and Layo & Bushwacka melodic techno.

WHYT NOYZ are really good producers and they really seem to keep it dark but melodic. Here’s a few tracks

Petar Dundov

Conforce
Terrence Dixon
Pig & Dan
etc.

10dens
Applescal
Devangel
Hells Kitchen
Tip D’Oris
Brann
Microtrauma

Just a few I’ve come across on Beatport that I use in my sets.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I still refer back to this thread when I go hunting now.

The Black Dog

Their EPs and single are techno with higher energy while their albums are less energetic hypnotic ‘idm’.

this is really really nice:

there’s lots of it out there, so many cool tracks on my banging records that would fall into this.

Very nice! Love The Black Dog, kinda reminds me of Voiski’s style of raw melodic techno which I can’t get enough of!

Jupiter Jazz by Underground resistance is always a good one

I really like this atm. Between () are my favourites

Ian O’Donovan (Millennia)
Egbert (Leven)
Sasha Carassi (Old Fashioned Lover)

Can’t go wrong with this http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ygbsK2gQ-Co

No-one has mentioned Vince Watson? How can this be?

You’re right. And I should have mentioned him seeing as I have all his albums. :open_mouth:hmy:

I’ll also add Logiztik Sounds as another to check out.
