Will there still be Traktor Pro updates even though Traktor 2 is out now?

Just wondering because I’m not sure if I’m going to upgrade or not.

If I’m not mistaken, no. The TP team is working on TP2 updates only.

it’s the same situation like with Traktor 3… they stopped right after traktor pro was released. needless to say, latest versions of Tpro and T3 are really stable IMO - what do you need updates for?

Totally agree. If anything screws up, it’s usually 99.9% user caused such as installing too much unnecessary software or dodgy computer hardware. They’ve been so stable in recent years that I’ve actually grown so complacent as to not even bring CDs to my gigs anymore.

Isn’t part of the process of updating to make it more stable? I like having some of the new features too.

In terms of the features, eventually Traktor Pro will seem really outdated to TP2.

At my day job, we’re still using Windows XP which is a bit ridiculous. People always complained about stability with Vista, but I had no problems whatsoever. Using an almost 10 year old OS like XP just seems embarassing, especially because I’m at the largest telecommunications company in the country.

i believe you fail to understand what updates are intended for.
if it aint broke, don’t tweak it. it’s already stable as it is

this

and this

but not this. vista was absolute poo.

hahahahahahaa

There is no further work on Traktor Pro.

All work is now on T2.

And I broke that rule so badly during my last 2 back to back weekend gigs. Went to install Traktor Pro 2 on BOTH my DJ notebooks and messed up the Windows 7 systems somewhat with the constant tweaking plus installing and uninstalling of the most recent Audio 8 DJ drivers thinking that it was some conflict or incomplete updating causing all the audio glitches.

:open_mouth:

That’s my point though. Never had a problem with Vista, or any version of Traktor…And that’s despite taking every upgrade available.

But it sure feels good downloading ‘updates’, doesn’t it? Especially when they contain new features so you’re sort of getting more bang for your buck without having to fork out anything.

Traktor Pro will look outdated eventually, but isn’t that why they released TP2? I mean, people pay for an upgrade, to get those new features and improvements. Why would they then keep making those for TP? Especially if TP is running stable, it doesn’t make sense.

About Windows XP, at our company we’ve worked with Windows NT till 2 or 3 years ago, just because it’s lightweight and stable. As long as something runs smoothly, don’t try to change it for something new. The same goes for your TP. It’s not because they don’t make updates anymore that you should upgrade to TP2 just because of that, as long as TP works well, keep it.

I personally got TP2 through an e-voucher (S4), but if they didn’t give me that for free, I probably wouldn’t have upgraded since the S4 software worked perfectly and the difference between the TPS4 and TP2, according to features, is almost zero.

I probably won’t upgrade to TP2 until I get the S4, but the other issue I’m facing is that I was really interested in learning Midi Programming, and heard from a lot of people that the Traktor Bible was a good resource, the only problem is that they only make it for TP2 now. So I figured if I’m going to get the Traktor 2 bible, I might as well upgrade to TP2 no?

One thing I have learned as a electronic consumer is “the buyer is always a beta tester for the ‘next new’ thing”. This is cycle will always happen.
