Wondering about a controller controlled by both traktor & ableton

Sup boys

I was wondering if it is possible to use a controller with both traktor and ableton at the same time.

For example on a mf twister 2 rows of encoders controlled by traktor, and the next 2 rows controlled by ableton.

LMK, would be awesome with a livid ohm

This can be done - but you need 3rd party software.

Bomes Midi Translator and MidiOx/MidYoke (for PC).

Thinking about it, you might ONLY need MidiOx/MidYoke. You would have a midi IN coming into MidiYoke from the Twister, then you’d split it into 2 midi OUTS going from MidiYoke. 1 to Traktor, and 1 to Live.

AMAZING

Cheers mate

Small heads up that you don’t need 3rd party software on OS X since there are no conflicts with sharing a single device across multiple MIDI enabled programs, no matter what MIDI controller(s) you use

HI,or you can use a special mapping with assignations you don’t need like one rmx decks in/out
like that i control with a controler all i need in ableton, maschine traktor (modifié is a + for rocking your mapping )

I use this set-up too, it takes a little tweaking, but it can work.

no 3rd party needed + Traktor Global MIDI Control: Control Multiple MIDI Devices With One Controller

padi said it can be done on OSX - but those of us on PC would need 3rd party help.

Is this an Ableton issue? I have no problems using my Launchpad for both FL and Traktor at the same time or with both FL and Reason at the same time.

No, it’s a Windows limitation and that’s why you’d be using 3rd party software to bypass it.

But I use windows 8.1 and dont have this issue.

Guess it’s a bit of an odd ball then, I was having issues both in 8.1 and 10. Either way, glad to hear it works for you!
