WTF Traktor Pro Will Not Start!!!

Na still no joy. I deleted all those files and reinstalled. Same error. Also I couldn’t find any .nml files at all in the place you said.

Thanks for trying to help, I appreciate it. I will PM you my ticket number. I sent it last week to NI and still haven’t heard anything back

Cheers

do a file search for collection
the file is called collection.nml

I did that search and collection.nml showed up in the traktor 3 folder. Not in the traktor pro folder. I tried renaming it anyway but traktor pro still wont open

Thanks for help but still no joy. I’m going to take all traktor versions off and try one last time.

Nice one

EDIT which start up icon are you clicking. DO NOT CLICK THE ONE ON THE DESKTOP. Goto the Applications/Tracktor folder and launch Traktor from there.

See what happens

There is a problem sometimes with Mac that the Tpro installer does not update the Desktop Icon and it launches a previous version or a corrupt version.

You need to delete the Desktop shortcut and make an alias form the one in the Traktor folder in Applications.

Just unstalled everything - traktor le, traktor 3, traktor pro, service centre, followed the steps you gave to delete everything…

reinstalled… same error :rage:

I was launching from applications/traktor

i noticed that after install it and do a restart i get a message saying something about “boot caches”. Is that normal?

I’m going to unstall again, and see if i can start the app before having to restart… just to see

I dont know that ‘Boot caches’ warning im afraid.

The traktor forum is down until tomorrow so i cant check for previous threads about this.

Its a bit baffling , it sound like something else is preventing Traktor from booting.
Can you run other programs ?

Just a guess but it sounds like the Cache is not emptying. Maybe run a boot cache program like Onyx or MacCleanse.

I use MacJanitor. Its free and works for me.

I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled to death now. I tried starting my Mac in safe mode and for some reason traktor launched although the audio seemed to be disabled???

Does that shed any light on this problem? On start up I have Snapz Pro, Quicksilver, Little Snitch, and Stuffit. Surely those can’t be clashing??? They weren’t before anyway?

NB this is 100% legit copy of traktor pro

Why would it work in Safe Mode but not in regular mode?

Any ideas?

mx1

Could mean it is a driver error. Safe mode is a mode that essentially turns off all non-essential drivers. Are all your audio drivers up to date?

QFT

and deleting the collection.nml file resets the device that Traktor is trying to use as an audio out, which is one of the reasons why finding and renaming this file works. There also can be corruption of this file that can cause issues loading but if your booting fine in safe mode im betting its an audio driver problem like kidfromkibbly is saying.

I’ve tried changing the .nml file - didn’t help i’m afraid.

Thing is, what audio drivers could it possibly be? I’ve got nothing attached that needs a driver. It’s just the software. I’ve been on NI there are no drivers that i need??

NI are in touch now, thanks to Karlos Santos who has been an amazing help.

I will see if they can help

I will keep this forum posted of the outcome.

Cheers

That was in a Traktor 3 file so obviously it was the wrong collections file

Right

So that was EPIC but NI support finally sorted this out for me. Amazing

Took a while but they got there. Very relieved. I’d just invested in a new MacBook Pro (for its stability) and was pretty gutted that Traktor Pro was sketching. I had to borrow Serato off my mate for my last few gigs.

Anyway below was their advice and my response.

Hello Max Newson,

i got some feedback from the developers now. They had a look to the logfiles
you sent and it seems that TraktorPro does crash because you have installed a
certain font on the system. The crashlog does not give further information
regarding the name of the font but you said that TraktorPro did work fine
before the first crash happened. So it should be possible to isolate the
problem font by searching the Fonts folder here.

Macintosh HD/Library/Fonts.

In my opinion you just need to search for a font which comes with a creation
date around the date you got the first Traktor crash.

Please keep me informed.

Wow!

Unbelievably, that actually worked!! I’m really sorry though I deleted the font and didn’t make a note of the name of it to let you know for future reference.

But I deleted the recent fonts from Macintosh HD/Library/Fonts and that didn’t work… so I deleted the most recent one from User/Library/Fonts and that did the trick.

Anyway, for now it seems to be working fine again so thank you!

Max Newson

congrats, man!

We need to learn how to read those crash log files :stuck_out_tongue:
Happy to hear that you got it going
