WTF Traktor Pro Will Not Start!!!

WTF Traktor Pro Will Not Start!!!

Hey

I’m having a nightmare. My traktor pro won’t start up. I’m just getting spinning colour wheel and then an error message “the application traktor quit unexpectedly”.

It was working fine a week ago. I got a new Macbook Pro about 2 weeks ago running Leopard 10.5.7.

I installed it and it was working fine. Last night, an hour before a gig, i tried firing it up and got this message. I downloaded latest version, unistalled the one i had. Same error. i even used AppCleaner.

I had to borrow my mates Serato back (which i sold to him because i got vci 100 and traktor pro) which worked fine.

Any one else had this? I have emailed NI but needless to say am still awaiting reply

sorry message was"application traktor has quit unexpectedly"

kill me

Everybody are doing backup, right?
Try go back in timemachine, when Traktor worked, and try again..

If no backup, i will try again to delete Traktor and install again.. and make a backup of
the folder.. Documents/Native Instruments/Traktor/

edit:
make the backup first, and then re-install

I hadn’t set up my time machine so i cant. still it should work. it’s bullshit. i’ve unistalled and reinstalled 4/5 times. it’s rubbish

Anyone else had it happen and get it sorted?

Mx

did you ever have to force quit tpro, did it ever crash, or did you ever force shutdown your MBP before this happened?

try deleting your config file?

Yeah i think Phil is on the money here - back it up first though.

I’m with them on this one!

I have exactly the same problem on Xp. Worked fine the first time and now it dont!
Now im pretty much stuck with T3 again - going back in time didn’t work for me - but im hoping that a Format C: will do the trick

did you try deletign the collections file ? i bet thats whats doing it.

Cheers for the advice. Where would I find said config file?

Thanks in advance

Mx1

C:\Users*** your windows username here***\Documents\Native Instruments\Traktor

I really hope so!
Doing it now

Wow! It worked! Thank you so much, you have saved my day champ !!

I’m running a Mac - no such thing as a C drive. I “showed package contents” on the application and there was no config.

I went into Documents/Native Instruments/Traktor but there was no config there. I deleted Traktor Settings.tsi still wouldn’t open.

Any other ideas greatly welcome…

Many thanks

Mx1

Please backup before the following. Especially your collection, settings folder and tsi .

If you have reinstalled Traktor and you still get problems with launching you need to trash the following files:

Total removal Traktor OSX, trash the following files/directories:

• [user-home]/Documents/Native Instruments/Traktor/
• [system drive]/Library/Application Support/Native Instruments/Traktor/
• [system drive]/Library/Preferences/com.native-instruments.Traktor Pro.plist
• [user-home]/Library/Preferences/com.native-instruments.Traktor Pro.plist
• [user-home]/Library/Preferences/com.native-instruments.Traktor.plist
• [system drive]/Library/Receipts/Traktor Application.pkg
• [system drive]/Library/Receipts/Traktor Framework.pkg

That should get rid of everything. Then just reinstall Traktor and your collection, settings and tsi.

I have personally done the same procedure to completely remove Beta versions to make a fresh install. It should work for you as well mate.

Not if its the collections file thats skrewing everything up, first i would try renaming the collections file and trying to open Traktor before i worried about completely reinstalling Traktor.

Yeah totally try the collection first.
You dont need to reinstall just rename the collection and relaunch Traktor and it will create a new collection.nml If Traktor works try the old collection. If that effs up then its the collection. If the fresh collection effs up then do the uninstall procedure

In his third post he says hes already uninstalled Traktor 3 or 4 times so i guessed he needed to do a complete uninstall.

Ok But i did do an uninstall using AppCleaner which deletes all of applications associated files to completely uninstall. I will now try what youre saying though. Also, where would I find the collections file?

Thanks again

Mx1

As BentoSan said its in Documents/Native Instruments/Traktor collection.nml

The files i listed are files that are known to get left behind with by some uninstallers.

Did you get a Support Ticket from NI. If you want i can bump it with NI Support if any of this doesnt work.
