No, it’s just a controller with a soundcard. All the mixing and EQing is done by the computer.
i suppose you could compare it to a xone 2D + 1D then. each has its merits.

Well the VMS4 can be used as a stand alone mixer. It’s 4 channel, built in mouse trackpad in the unit… This looks very good and I dont think it would be over 1000.
And it won’t be Allen & Heath either.
i’ve got a midi bug with my 1D, and my 2D, and the xone22 we use pops when you turn the filter on.
A&H are pretty well built but not perfect.
Wuz what do you mean a midi bug on the 2d?Are these machines faulty?
i found it a couple of weeks ago.
Unit has the latest firmware and latest driver installed.
If you (accidentally) turn an encoder while it is pressed down, midi in/out on the unit stops completely and the BPM screen displays “SFT”
It doesn’t work again until you turn it off and on again (which blows if you’re using the soundcard )
I have not tried older driver versions yet.
