For me: a conductors baton…
so that I can conduct Sasha, Digweed, Teebee, Calyx, D Ramirez, Orbital, Plump DJs and a load of other producers to write the music and perform in realtime for me. Would probably need at least a 500 channel mixing desk and a VERY large dj booth lol
Dream rig
-a completely maxed out Mac Pro Octo-core w/32gigs of memory and a 30" display with a custom Jazzmutant Multi-touch overlay(only exists in my dreams so far) running Traktor Pro and Ableton Live
-2 Jazzmutant Lemurs
-1 Xone:4d
-UE Custom 11 pro’s
My dream rig involves me with any kit, just the kit i have now will do. The difference would be me having the skillz that killz ![]()
Good call. Maximizing the hell out of the money is no object.
i have such simple aspirations. i’m waiting on the eternally usa backordered otus to arrive in the mail, which would complete my dream rig for the next year or so.
right now the money for me is the simple laptop, otus, and my friend mixing in with her traktor/controller rig in the middle channel of my nuo 3. at the club we’re going into either the later dj’s djm909 with its infuriating line switches, or another friend’s zero4.
i could perhaps use a few more buttons or knobs here and there, but on the whole i’m not starved for any more control. i’m rather enjoying setting up and breaking down in less than five minutes with the minimalistic setup.
1x Akai APC-40
1x Vestax VCM-600
2x Stanton SCS3m
1x NI Maschine
1x Turntable with dvs for scratching
As you can see i really dont play favorites with any hardware manufactuers - they all seem to have their own things they do well ![]()
Xone 92, RME 800, Pioneer CDJ-1000 x 4, NanoPad in black, Xone 1D x 2, The best MBP 15 incher with TSP, Mackie HR824, Pioneer HDJ-2000 and…more practice
Well:
This will be next to gear already/or getting real soon in my posession:
You guys and your lust for Xone mixers make want to make me want to puke ![]()

Have to say Phaidons Rig, but rather than the 4D, I’d go with Audio 8 DJ, 2 XONE1Ds and a XONE92. Call me old-fashioned, but I like that more than the 4D…
Internal mixing ftw - unleash your device chaining, midi routing, fx-building, instrument creating, controlleristic child within !!
I don’t want a Xone.. i want SCones Dammit! ![]()

I split it up between two areas as I’m a gear whore in both. I put a laptop in my production rig because I want to have the ability to work on something wherever I’m at, so if I get a musical lightbulb in my head, I can pop open the laptop right there and lay down some sounds/beats.
My production rig is rather small and minimal because I’m not quite at the point where I can take advantage of more gear, and I’m yet to find a need for hardware synths/compression/eq etc., as I’ve been able to do all of that with software.
I like the idea of internal mixing, but the EQs in traktor just don’t sound right to me (and yes, I’ve tried the various types). I’ve always preferred an external mixer.
Actually Traktor is a terrible example of how internal mixing is better than digital mixing - i was more refering to programs like Ableton or Reakor where you can get really really into the nitty gritty of your setup.
Actually I have to correct my mixer selection.
Not an Xone-4d, a custom built
A mixer with
The MIDI implementation and layout scheme of the Xone-4d
The 4 band EQ and 2 LFO filter setup of the Xone 92
The True Key detect/correct function of a Pioneer DJM-800
The firewire soundcard of an Ecler EVO 5
The Channel FX layout of an Ecler EVO 4
The Master FX layout of a Korg Zero 4
The Joggwheels of a VCI-300
The EQ specific X-fader function of a Behringer DDM4000
and The customer support of Allen & Heath
Not too much to ask, really
mmmmmm… tastes like awesome
Smart-mixing == Much better than this i think personally
I want a mixer that nativly supports smart-mixing !!!
