Affordable 4ch mixer recommendations

Affordable 4ch mixer recommendations

Hey all,

I’m in the market for a new DJ mixer and am considering a 4ch if I can find a decent and affordable one for around $500. So far, the Behringer DJX900USB and DDM4000 look like the most affordable options, but I’ve been reading a lot of bad reviews about their build quality (not surprising). I’m not looking for the fanciest mixer, just something that will last. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Two no frills mixers that have good build quality, and good sound quality.

12" format - Vestax 004xl
19" format - Denon X500

Good call on the Vestax VMC-004! I totally forgot about that one. Another friend of mine is convincingly making me consider a used DJM-600.

Forget about that DJM-600, it’s rubbish in so many ways…

Go with the vestax suggestion !

DJM 600 is a good, solid mixer with basic effects.

But the DDM4000 is more fun than you can imagine.

I’ve had both, and liked 'em both. It depends on why you DJ. If you are creative, and love the feeling you get when you put a great mix together, regardless of who hears you doing it, you’ll go for the DDM4K.

If you’re a no frills, A>B mixing type of guy, who loves the feeling of people seeing you DJ and think you’re cool, you’ll go for the DJM.

If the DDM4000 is you current mixer, I can imagine you also loved the DJM600.

On the other hand, if the OP is in need of a rugged, well sounding mixer that will last him a few years without problems…then he should get the Vestax instead… IMHO !

I recommend checking out the Ecler Nuo 4.0

No frills, nice layout and built like an absolute tank.

And great sound !
I agree that the nuo 4.0 is a great alternative.

To bad their current R&D & DJ-focus is dead and maybe soon the whole company will be gone.
Spain is hit hard by the crisis and their sales were already ‘not so great’ last years.
To bad because they have excellent stuff (HAK-serie, NUO-serie, EVO-serie)

totaly agree
but I would say that the best-buy option would be Denon X1600 - great EFX, also built like a tank, dedicated MIDI buttons, Traktor certified soundcard inside, innofader ready,… :+1:

It’s a bit more expensive though. Still, very nice looking mixer

God I hope this doesn’t happen…
