Just recieved a VCI-100, i have planned to use in one of my DIY projects.
Bought it from a guy from UK, here on this forum, and paid him £200..
Now i have a useless piece of c***.
The story is..
Got it today, and first thing ofcause is to hook it up, and see if everything is ok,
there is nothing to see at the first look, no scratches or other visual defects.
Connected it to my mac, and nothing really worked, the only thing working, was the crossfader, but something is very wrong, all functions are somehow interacted with eachother, and the MIDI message LED, are blinking fast, when i´m not touching anything..
Then when i opened it, all hell broke loose..
Wires are tried to be fixed with flex, and can see something got very wrong
with some amateur soldering on the PCB, some of the potmeters are soldered bad, and something looks like he is trying to replace some of the LED with no succes..
I am not new into the VCI, and know my way around the inside and
how i probely can try to fix it, so i can get it to work.
Hopefully i can replace some of the componets, and straigt out the bad soldering..
Now i can’t get any answers from this guy, and i can’t really do anything..
i live in Denmark and made the tranfer via paypal…
I would say: yes. Its rough, but dont you all think that others that might purchase from the individual again shall be warned that there was a rip off in the past? Should “criminals” be protected? All under the fact that he selled a fully functional VCI, or pretended to.
Funken, did the Seller tell you its fully functional? Didnt you wonder cause of the cheapness? 200 is pretty cheap i think.
I bought a VCI-300 of deejayforum.de 2 months ago.
260€ via PayPal beforehand and 240€ on receive.
I got NOTHING.
The seller is a mother of 2 young children and does that quite often (ripped of 3 other guys on that forum) but the police does nothing other than file charges!
I filed a complaint at PayPal which was agreed to after 7 days of not-answering it.
Still I got no money.
You see, you’re in good company.
Did you go to the police and filed a complaint at PayPal yet because what you got is not what you agreed on?
Looking for the Vestax VCI-100..
doen’t matter if it’s scratched or slightly broken.
If you have one, please give me a message..
Located in Denmark..
Yes what i meant, was fysicaly.. Could maybe be misunderstood..
But the seller never told me the fails, or i didn’t work at all.
and we had a long chat before the agreement, so i would defentenly have picked that up, if something was wrong..
prob not on the board since doing this? and i’m not saying to protect anyone, just don’t see the point in a forum wide witch hunt. be easier to just ban the user from the site.
I would say if your rewire his mods carefully your VCI should be functional again.
But suck to hear someone is being dishonest, it doesnt matter how they interpretted your comments about it working or not, they should have made it clear what was wrong before selling it.
That totally bites, but anyway the only thing to do now is repair it, get a good soldering iron and some desolder wick and now for the forum to help people post up some nice pics of inside the vci the more pics the better and follow your nose, if you have any problems with the repair work just post back on this thread and I will try and help, I’m an electronics tech by trade so I do this sort of shit for a living.
Hey.. and thanks for the support..
Slightly broken, means that if it’s missing a knob or a fader, but not the functionality of the whole VCI.. Probely i have to take more lessons in my writing english
But anyway, i got the VCI and he could have ripped me totally off, and never send it.
So i have to get the best out of it. So the first thing i will do to remove the really bad soldering, and look for shortcuts or other faults. I have some spareparts, i can change.
Also try to change some of the PCB with the the one i have that are working, to see witch board is faulty…
When you got you VCI fully function (what I’m really hoping that you will get) try to learn how to modify it. Since you are alredy messing with all soldering and circuit boards, try to make a Mod of VCI.
